Anybody seen this guy live? Blustein has been calling him RG4. He's been very productive in Dade County and is apparently an Optimist legend.

Seems like the type of guy that a smart team would offer at QB, give a chance to compete and move to another position if he gets beat out.

That's an athlete playing QB. He looks like Anquan Boldin.

Dude's only 5'10

That puts his chances at winning the QB job at very slim in my book, but I would take him in a heartbeat and give him a shot, and move him to another position if nothing else. Kid is a playmaker.

Very similar to Geno Smith...couple inches shorter though

Yes please.

If he's similar to Geno Smith, it didn't show in that video. Geno is a QB. This kid was running around throwing off his back foot, off balance, and basically just making plays.

Yea, Geno is definitely more of a pure QB, but going into his junior year of high school, he was doing a lot of the things the Flowers does (throwing off his back foot, etc.). They are similar from an athletic and arm strength stan point.

He's not going to develop in to Geno Smith, that's not a fair comparison. Geno Smith is a prototypical QB at 6'3 so he has it a lot easier. This kid is so short he'll have to move around and maybe even play the majority of his snaps out of the shotgun. (won't be able to see over the line)

His upside is to become like a Russell Wilson at Wisconsin, IMO. So it CAN be done.

He has a more athletic ability than Wilson IMO, but I can see that comparison.

I have seen him, talented qb, with decent arm but tremendous speed. Personally i think he is a slot wr at the next level but looks good at qb

That's certainly much better reflected in that video than the next Geno Smith or RGIII.

Yea. I dont see how anyone would think he is RG3 or anything close to that

If you want to force a QB comparison it would be to Denard

Denard is exactly who I thought of. He might be a little better of a passer though. I think a coach like Urban Meyer would offer him @ QB, or even Paul Johnson. If I were Golden, I probably don't offer him unless there's alot of room, which probably isn't the case.

I need to see more of him, but if he's that good of an athlete Golden needs to do what Shannon should have done with Denard: offer him as a QB and let the chips fall where they may.

Problem is a Treon Harris is in the same boat. Says we offered him at QB but we all know he will likely move to another position.

I agree with CanEs4life04. First person I thought of was Roscoe Parrish when I saw his High School highlight tape.

This kid may develop into a good QB one day but he's flying by the seat of his pants playing sand lot ball. I don't want a sand lot QB at UM, sorry if that rubs some of you the wrong way.

I see receiver in this kids future at a major D1 school. Athlete who can throw a spiral, nothing more.

According to a recent article in the herald, Flowers has grown a little over the summer:

Talents ready to bloom at Miami Jackson

When a person reaches superstar status, his or her name usually gets abbreviated into a nickname easy enough to garner wide recognition.

Shaq, Bron, D-Wade, and The Playmaker are easily identifiable nicknames in sports.

Miami Jackson has a player that is steadily rising to that level of stardom in junior quarterback Quinton Flowers — or as he increasingly becoming known as just “Winky”.

Flowers, who was an All-Dade performer in 2011, enters the 2012 season as arguably the best quarterback in South Florida and one of the best in the nation for the Class of 2014.

Generals head coach, Antonio “De-La” Brown, who has coached Winky since he was 9 years old, said Flowers’ development to this point has been nothing short of amazing.

“When he was a freshman, he was Quinton ’Winky’ Flowers, then he showed what he could do and he became Winky Flowers,” Brown said. “After this year he’ll probably be just Winky, and by the time he graduates, he’ll just be Wink.

“He’s put in the hard work and really takes his craft seriously. He’s right on track in terms of his overall development. He’s getting that veteran swag — being able to stay cool under pressure,” Brown added.

Flowers, who benefited from playing with his older brother Nathaniel “Fat Cat” Flowers last season, received the nickname from his mother, who died, and it has stuck and is quickly becoming more popular.

Last season Flowers, who grew during the summer and will be listed at 6-1, 195 pounds this season, accounted for nearly 3,200 yards of total offense (jnearly 2,500 passing) and racked up 33 total touchdowns. It was enough to get the Generals to the second round of the playoffs, but not enough to overcome district rival Norland and longtime neighborhood rival Northwestern.

There was another one-name star who dominated district 16-5A last season in Norland’s Randy “Duke” Johnson, who led the Vikings to two big victories over the Generals en route to the Class 5A state title. Since Duke has taken his act to Coral Gables with the Hurricanes, the district is wide open — with many pegging Jackson the favorite.

Brown knows his team’s success will hinge in part with Flowers’ success.

“He’s a major factor in our offense,” Brown said. “But we’ve put a lot of great skill-position guys around him. So Winky can just distribute the ball and let those guys make plays — because they can. Then, when we do call Winky’s number, the defense won’t be able to key on him because we so many playmakers.”

Miami Herald recruiting analyst Larry Blustein has compared Winky to another quarterback with a catchy nickname.

“I’ve been telling everyone he can be the next RGIII,” Blustein said, comparing Flowers to Heisman Trophy winner and Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III. “While he may not be a hurdler like Griffin was, he’s fast and he definitely has the arm to be a big-time college quarterback.”

that is the most fun I've had watching a highlight tape in a while. It's clear the kid can play, somewhere. I'd love him at Miami. But if his heart is set on QB, it might be somewhere else like Denard.
