Well Spoken. Definitely would want him as a DE in this clas. If I had to guess his coach will push him to Auburn

Alabama just got a commitment from a 3 star DT from Georgia. Don't remember his name, but he wasn't a name I recognized from our recruiting. Some of their commitments are 3 star some are 4. a few are 5. So, they're taking 3 stars early. Coach's evaluations are more important that stars.

As far as small schools--yes, competition is a factor, but not the only one if you evaluate right. Remember a longtime starter for us at DT, the late Derwin Jones, who came from a tiny Christian school in Dade County. He was solid for us for years.
 
Kid plays at the same high school as UM baseball signee Jacob Heyward. Small school, but very solid program and play decent competition. Lot of athletes.

If those were legit offers than some good programs like him. Even if they didn't offer, it doesn't mean we shouldn't. We've found great kids that nobody else wanted.

That's right. I found the article again and I was just coming back here to edit the post. While I just said in another post that just because another good program did not offer, it doesn't mean we shouldn't, the fact that good programs are interested suggests that there is a developing consensus on a kid's potential.

We've always made our living on finding kids under the radar. Our great teams of the '80's were built on them. I remember a conversation I had with the Hurricane Club director back about '86, and he was telling me we were always taking kids nobody else wanted. He even mentioned Jerome Brown in that category, despite the fact he was a Parade A-A. Apparently Jerome had some behavior issues, or something like that. The worse he ever did at UM, from what I know, was leaving his gun in a shopping cart, and getting expelled from the dorm. I don't know of any other trouble he had, although driving like a maniac did him in.
