Lol at on campus stadium

Its easy to build a stadium just cut a check for a billion dollars.

Find me a spot in Coral Gables.... there's a big field along Ponce and Granada but doubt that could fit a stadium.

And the residents of Coral Gables wouldn't go down without a fight.

Don't see it happening boys.

That field has plenty of room for a stadium, especially after they knock down that elementary school that is there.

Pretty much the only thing standing in our way of an on campus stadium is the City of Coral Gables.

It's never going to happen.

never happen bc the city of coral gables won't allow it. where are 50,000 people going to park? also, the city and UM recently negotiated a new master plan for the UM campus for the next appr 20 years. no mention of the stadium anywhere. it will never happen.

The real question should. When are the Dolphins getting a new stadium, because thats who will get us a new stadium.

The only 2 places that I could have even imagined a Stadium being built are Tropical Park or Bicentennial Park. Now that Bicentennial Park is going to be the site for Museum Park that land is off the table.

That's what I was thinking, that would have been the perfect spot

It should've happened a long time ago. Except this university has always had an inferiority complex and has consistently undervalued its impact, economically and civically, on the community it resides. Why we've consistently bent over and took it from the city of Miami, Coral Gables, and now the Miami Dolphins organization in matters such as this is truly beyond me. Prime example was the amount of legalities and roadblocks and scaled back planning that the university had to navigate just to get the BUC built!!

Add to it the academics side of the house disinterest in truly supporting its athletic dept., and you've got a snowballs chance in **** of this ever, EVER happening.

Even if we did have a location available to build (bicentenntial/tropical park). Do we have the pockets to pony up for a stadium? We don't want a cheap one that would get murked by a hurricane down the road.

If the city didn't just willingly get fleeced by the Marlins, the peacock park area in the Grove would be a nice location.

Did anyone of you go to the school and or attending the school now?

Because if you haven't, or don't have deep pockets, the school does not and will not give a *****

Bicentennial Park would be awesome. Easy access from campus (and all over) via the Metro/Metro Movers, and the stadium could have a sick water view. They squeezed 100k+ into that park for Ultra, so I don't see why we couldn't fit a 55k person stadium over there. You could also go to a Canes game and then head next door to watch the Heat lose to the Knicks. Traffic would be brutal, though. In addition, this will never happen.

I just graduated last year. I've gotten phone calls from CallingCanes about donating to the school and told them I'm not donating anything until I'm a billionaire, in which case I'm donating an entire on-campus/nearby stadium. The girl on the phone did not find this amusing, but it is the absolute truth.
