I'm not discounting this but how much of what you're saying is simply defenses figuring out TVD and limiting our approach to what we can and can't do offensively? Not saying that a truly elite OC couldn't scheme around his limitations and have incrementally better results but not sure if 85% of the other OC's at this level wouldn't have had comparable results.

I continue to say that I'll truly judge Dawson when he has competent QB play.
If you're not sure if the problem is the OC or the QB, then it falls on the guy who makes $8mil a year.

Both our QB AND our OC have proven they have very high ceilings.

That means it's up to the man in charge to create that environment where they can constantly reach and/or push their ceiling.

Maybe it's a coping thing because accepting that Mario IS the problem is pretty daunting for those of us optimists who are hoping for a glimmer of hope.

I'm an optimist that likes to confront reality ASAP.

The reality is that Mario is the problem. The optimist in me says that as soon as he figures that out, we can be elite again. Because his offensive meddling/stubbornness AND his gameda[BGCOLOR=initial]y management are the only things holding us back.[/BGCOLOR]

We've seen culture change. We've seen massive development in the trenches. We've seen tackling improve. We've seen CBs and a defense in general overachieve expectations. We've seen toughness and conditioning improve.

Offensive/QB development and gameday management. Mario needs to look in the mirror at those 2 things and do whatever he can this offseason to humble himself and accept that he needs help in those 2 areas.

If he fixed [BGCOLOR=initial]those 2 things, we would have easily won 10 games this year with TVD and Dawson and legit had a chance at an undefeated season. That's how good the rest of the team was but how bad those 2 pieces were.[/BGCOLOR]

I've been saying that. Our best opportunity at QB is TVD under a real OC without Mario meddling. We've seen his ceiling. I doubt we do better than that in the portal and even if we do, we have no guarantee that Mario doesn't break a new QB also.

There's a chance here we could end up with double the negativity if we bring in a successful portal QB and he stinks it up here AND TVD transfers elsewhere and does well. Mario's reputation as a QB killer will be cemented and he'll have a very hard time signing an elite HS OR transfer QB ever again.

If TVD stays here and returns to 2021 form, then Mario can redeem himself and change the perception on his reputation.

Very dangerous territory for Mario if he botches the QB room again.
Well, if he ***** up with a legit transfer QB here this upcoming season (insert successful QB Name here) that should tell you everything about him not being the guy to lead this program or at the very least, be a rude awakening for him to stay the **** out of the offensive room and let people work for all of eternity.

i am not saying the staff is void from responsibility but i do believe he was put in position to be successful. have you seen the plays where he threw interceptions? someone made a clip on twitter and more than half of them had open check downs

not only that but TVD was lights out against A&M - a legit top 10 defense. His meteoric collapse with no legitimate backup QB ready to replace him did us in

we desperately need to increase competition and talent in the QB room because this is the 2nd season in a row that relying on tvd has bit us in the ***

his poor decisions cost us at least 3 games this season (4 if you count GT and his 3 picks, but i'll blame Mario and dawson for not kneeling there)
A&M was the first game of the season. Other than a partially healed hand injury, he was perfectly healthy.

The game plan was also the best Dawson put together until LVille first half

I'm hoping that's what this year was.

He had 2 shots to bring in an offensive system with the "best QB in the country".

All he did was regress both years from 2021 and never saw a QB or offensive reach it's true potential. And that was with significantly improved OL play.

Hopefully he's had his wakeup call.

I Cant Jeff Probst GIF by Global TV
I love being surrounded by goons who can’t refute a point with words.

The GIF is great indicator of intellectual ineptitude.

Sending 3-4 guys out in routed against 7 defenders as much as we did is as crazy of a thing as I’ve seen. Last week we at least had five guys going out more which was a nice surprise.
Do you get the sense that Dawson throttled it back because he couldn’t trust TVD or did he really just empty his play book in the first 4 games? His offense was pretty good at Houston in 2022.

There’s legit qb’s interested in UM. P5 types and lower. Rodger’s is one name I’ve heard as well as some other guys that are looking to leave their current program. Some will make more sense than others but there’s definitely options.
Any exciting dual threat types?

I responded. Just not the way you want.

A guy isn't leaving the sec to go somewhere that sucks.
No one said anything about an average.

You only argue against what you want, not against anything that was written.

By the way, his team sucks.
