We need him in this class. Somwbody else posted his track times are not even that impressive for him to be focused on it. Im sure hes ow of the silents Richt was talking about.

Wilder is a beast! I would love to see him in orange and green. He should easily gain 10-15 is first year in college with the S&C program we have in place.

Yeah I dont understand all of a sudden why the fans have cooled on him let alone the staff. This kid was a must get this time last year. Not like we will need him next year anyways. He can RS and by the time Shaq and crew are JRs..he will be ready to take over as at least a "pass rushing" LB. I def want to sign this kid up. No doubt about it.

If Wilder can't gain weight for some reason does he have any potential as an in the box safety?

The buzz is that the staff believes he's more interested in track than football, and have cooled on him as a result. Not sure if we heard that from Pete, so no idea if it's true. I like the kid.

I would call total BS on this. This kid's appeal is solely based on football not any track exploits. Not saying he's not a good track athlete, but I bet he's not top in any events in Dade county alone. If so what event?

His track records are slightly better than average.

Wilder
Personal Records
100m - 11.53
200m - 22.87
400m - 57.15

Yeah, Pete has been saying for a couple of weeks now that the staff cooled on him because they think he cares more about track than football.
I for one completely disagree with this being a valid reason to not recruit Wilder.
He's pretty much been a lock for the Canes from the get go, only as of late due to the staff not recruiting him anymore has Auburn & other schools now gained even ground with Miami, and even so still he would absolutely commit if we were on him hard.
I trust the staff 100% because they obviously know better than I do, but I wholeheartedly disagree with their stance on Wilder.
Artie Burns & Philip Dorsett both ran track & played football while they were here and it didn't affect their on the field performance or off the field focus whatsoever, so I don't understand why it's a problem now.
I think Steed & Wilder would make for a great LB haul for this class, but apparently they prefer Jennings Jr... So, it is what it is.

Two things.

Burns and Dorsett played positions where your natural body type during football is similar to what it would be in track. If Wilder was brought in to play linebacker, he would have to drop and add weight yearly, which isn't a good thing for him in either sport. There's only so many David Oliver's in the world.

Also, if he really does want to do track and he has a future there, UF would unquestionably be the better choice. I'm not saying he couldn't do it from here, they just have had far more success in T&F.

I imagine they both know where each other stand and have gone on from there.
I don't disagree with anything you said, I guess my overall point is, I don't see how having a LB with track speed can be a negative in any way.
And honestly, if he committed here, all that track stuff would be pushed to the back burner once he got on field & realized his responsibilities as a LB. I highly doubt he would still push to run for track once he got around the staff & got in Felders strength & conditioning program.

Actually it's exactly the opposite that's the staffs concern. They feel he's a lb that may prefer to run track. His other serious negative is he's very undersized. Would take 2 years in all likelihood to put on enough good weight to see him as an everyone player.

kid is going to be 20 when he steps on campus, my only thought is if he is dominating because of his age. Does anyone have testing #s for him?

Yes, he better focus on football. That's good speed for a football player, but it isn't track scholarship worthy.

Will somebody get this kid on campus soon, so he can hurry the **** up & commit.
There's no legitimate reason to let Auburn just have him.
