Wide receivers

Imo: if we don't get Coley we don't take anyone... just like the RB position... if we don't get Collins, we shouldn't take anyone... there are so many other players at good positions that we can't and shouldn't pick up any JAGS... we need the type of players that can start from day 1...

We may need to take a leap of faith at running back. DJ can't do 25 carries. And it looks awfully thin behind him right now.
What we have now is possibly our worst rb depth ever, no?

Like I said in a previous post... in this order...
1a) Duke
1b) ? Hope for Collins
2)Clements
3)Crawford
4)Dillard
5)Hughes walk-on... but very decent

I think this can really work for us... I think these guys are ready and they just need their chance, I think they are being over shadowed by the popularity of Duke and other big named recruits... just give them the chance and I think Duke is very durable... more so than people think...

And for what its worth Antonio Crawford can play offense as well, can be used like Percy Harvin... the kid is a playmaker with the ball in his hand... don't sleep on him!

no chance. we must take a RB, Collins or not. you cant go into a season with 4 RB's, one of which is coming off of neck surgery. We must sign a RB

I see 5 RB mentioned but that's my Opinion... AG might regret takin a JAG... I looked at there films and no 1 else stood out like Collins not even Green... we can make it through the season as we are in our current RB position... I really think they will step their games up this year and prove a lot of people wrong...

5 RBs is even a bit lite, especially when one of the ones listed is a walk-on and the other is coming off of neck surgery. yes, 2014 is loaded at that spot, but that does nothing for next year. Going without a RB in this cycle is not an option. RB is a position of attrition and you can't roll the dice with only 3 sub-200 lbs RBs (one of which is not healthy), a walk-on and a question mark in Danny Dillard. That is flirting with disaster. Collins is a must get for us, and if we miss, we need to come up with a solid replacement. Hopefully, it doesnt come to this....but if we miss on Collins (and D.Williams/Barber/D.Green) I think looking for a solid JuCo wouldnt be a bad idea to plug the hole until next year

I agree that we should not take any "plan B" kids this year. We are probably going to have to turn away some plan As. I want Collins very much. He is one of my top 3 wants, along with Olsen and Thomas. But we seem to be in contention for a couple of other good running backs, such as Derrick Green and Peyton Barber. Also, I can guarantee that a few names we really haven't considered will crop up in January, maybe at running back, maybe elsewhere. This happens every year.

So does every school have a big back, has Miami always had big backs...? we got Hagans at FB and Dillard will do work... We good I really believe 5 RB's is good... no one leaves next year and then you add 2 more with Cook and Sony that makes 7 RB's... The guys on our roster WILL step up trust me they just need the chance...

Miami is in South Florida where wide outs grow on trees. Miami should take at least one per year. Same with running back.

WRs are a dime a dozen down here. Whenever we need them we will have them. We don't really need any right now, but we'll wind up with the best one down here this year anyway--Coley.

Disagree completely on the RB situation. We absolutely need at least 1 RB in this cycle preferably 2. RBs get hurt more than WRs, and Duke is a guy who gets dinged up fairly easily. Right now, it's Duke and nobody, so we have a big need there.

Scott has no discipline issues. What happened was an isolated thing. Dude's actually one of the few smart kids on the squad.

So Golden recruits mostly dumbasses you're saying?

*edited out the personal attack. You're a good poster. **** gets frustrating sometimes, but we gotta try to clean up the board as best as possible.

The class next year is stacked.

That's nice, but those guys won't be starting until 2016 or so unless we're weak at the position and force them on the field too much too early.

Or, unless there is a freak stud in there, which there seems to be in Lane.

Like Willie Willams or Kyle Wright?

Or conversely walk-on Santana Moss or unheralded Ray Lewis?

I guess my point is you can't count on recruits until you truly see what you have when they get to Greentree. Can't project a "stud's" freshman contribution. You don't know how quickly each kid is going to adjust or absorb.

No one is saying that freshman contribution would lead the team or position (although guys like Amari Cooper and others show it can be done). In fact, Lane would be about the 4th or 5th receiver on the team. Sure, maybe he is a total bust, but you're talking about a highly productive HS Junior who might already be a top 5 player in state. He's not playing a "cerebral" position - like QB - and the transition for WRs and RBs is a lot easier.

Yep. I was hoping to see 2 RB's in this class personally but I guess it depends on how they feel about Dallas and Dillard.

But back to the thread, I am ok with passing on a WR this year if we don't land Coley, or make a push for Strong. We don't need another Cunningham type on the roster. As has been mentioned you really gotta **** up around here if you can't consistently add the Hurns/Dorsett/Lewis types most every year, with the occasional superstar like Lane.

Golden has already shown he has an eye for talent so I'm not worried.
