Why the holding out

My concern isn't who they are offering. I'm more interested in seeing how many kids they sign. They need to get north of 25 kids IMO or we will be playing at 80 again next year and talking about how short handed we are. They can't use the "saving spots" agrument as we have 15 spots for '18 and likely lose another 10 kids between classes with all the kids that want to play but will never see the field at Miami.

Last year, Richt and staff landed Richards (Feb 3), Bethel (Dec 14), Finley (Feb 2), Haskins (Jan 28), Young(Jan 15), Johnson (Feb 1), Harris (Feb 18), James (Feb 3), Martin (Feb 1). Yes, Golden and Co were actively recruiting Richards and Bethel but I doubt both land at Miami with Golden. The rest were ALL Richt Staff. They lost two kids Byrd and Williams to Tennessee.

If they repeat that for this year with:
OL
3-4 of Slaton/Herbert/Chandler/Telfort/Ealy/Battman
RB
1 Macfarland/Felix
WR
3-4 D Smith, Holloman, Hartley, and may be Derrick Smith

DL
1-2 Wright/Carney/Taylor/Martin
LB
1 Dixon/Wilder
CB
2 Brini Henderson/Collier

I'm sure I am missing a few as I don't follow it as close as others.

That gets Miami 10-12 kids with lots of top end talent and a few reaches. When will those chips fall? I expect a few before January 1 as some are EEs. May be a couple the first week of January who are AAs (D Smith, Slaton, Holloman). Of course, the rest happen late January to NSD. Of course we can't land them all but the '16 class shows this staff can close better than the previous staffs.

I just don't understand why Harley is so important to everyone... I even went & watched footage again to see if maybe I was missing something & he just seems blah to me. Maybe I'm wrong but that's my take. To me he's basically sinorice Moss rather than Santana

Problem is when you ignore guys and then try to swoop in on signing day when you don't get the fax you thought you were going to get. Then you wind up with James King and Junior Alexis.

But what makes you think the kids even on the most remote corners of our radar are being ignored? Plenty of things go on that we just don't hear about. Harley is the perfect example. He's not a take for us as of now,yet he just admitted dugans talks to him every week. This staff isn't lazy about recruiting.

Why does it seem the staff is holding out on offering these other CB, WR's that you all seem to think they should be offering? We know Folden gave everybody but the right ones, but this staff seems to be behind the eight ball on offering anyone?

I think the proper thing is to wait until SR highlight tapes come out and then "EVALUATE" who has EARNED and offer... you have to make the scholarship worth something again...the spots are limited... And if you offer a kid a he may want to take a spot that you could have reserved for someone else...

Why hold out offers?

Golden and Co handed out offers like they were candy at Halloween, Everyone got one! Richt said he would only give out offers to a few kids.

We have no idea how this will end as last year Richt landed 9 kids in the last two months, his first two months. We need 10 more kids to get to 28ish kids. There are lots of kids interested and those interested are more than 10 so you have to like our chances to get to 28.

CB, WR, OL are the big question marks as we have a few quality kids committed but need more. Do you want to take a 3* Illinois commit at CB or do you want to wait until January/Feb to see if Henderson/Edwards jump back on-board? Or wait to see if you can get another 3-4* type to jump on-board. Some of the 3* kids may be takes but we need kids that can play in '17 for all three positions.
