Its time for a ****** reality check. I keep people saying our freshman cant have a impact. Why the **** not?

Christian hackenburg as a true freshman 59%, 2,995yds, 20tds, 10int.

Jared Goff as a true freshman 60%, 3,488yds, 18tds, 10ints.

For comparisons stephen morris a senior last year 58%, 3,028yds, 21tds, 12ints.

So why cant kaaya do the samething that hackenburg and goff did or better. Hackenburg had 1 player to throw to and goff had nobody at cal.

Joey bosa frosh de and a'shawn robinson frosh dt had 7.5 sacks. Why cant chad thomas and anthony moten do it?

We are in the ****** acc coastal everybody has problems at qb. No team in the acc we play besides fsu and vt have a defense to worry about.

it usually is a good problem to have when you don't have to rely on 18 year old kids when your 21 and 22 year olds can actually play. Haven't been able to say that for way too long. For the record, plenty of freshman will play this year. Darrion Owens will be top performer on D and Brad Kaaya on O.

It's not really whether a freshman can play effectively, it's whether he can do it consistently better than a fifth year guy. Maybe he can, maybe he can't. No one will truly know until the lights come on. I'm excited as **** to find out.

I think the only position most are skeptical on is Kaaya at QB, not the other positions. Kaaya seems like a stud but we still don't know, and there just isn't very many TRUE freshman pocket passers that have been successful. Its not a knock on him, just being realistic. I would call anything over 50-55% completion % and a throwing more TDs then INTs for Kaaya a successful season. I dont think there is any doubt that other guys like Thomas, Yearby, maybe Gray, or McDermott can be instant contributors.

Duke, Coley, Perryman, Chickillo, Flowers, say OP is not paying attention.

If they are ready they will play.

Let's see kaaya perform well in a scrimmage before we crown him. I'm curious what some of you are going to do if golden starts him and he struggles out of the box.

The issue is that if you play them before the team around them is ready you can do immeasurable damage to their confidence. Macho-man it up all you want, but them's the facts.

Bridgewater started as a True Freshman at UL in 2011.

They went 7-6 that year and lost to FIU.

Playing as a true freshman (at various skill positions) vs starting at QB as a true freshman are two entirely different things.

Exactly. Not to mention a freshman QB performing well hasn't been frequent. Being a QB in general is a difficult task. Putting a high-schooler in an unfamiliar enviroment where teams can throw different things at you on defense can be a bit intimidating.

I'm very excited about Kaaya and do think he'll exceed expectations though. Wouldn't be surprised if he puts up better numbers than Hackenberg, especially using Duke a lot more in the passing game. 3,100 yards 22 TD's 11 INT's.

in today's society, stars are stupid not to be 3 and done. The redshirting and hoping for 4 years is pretty much gone. Kids get screwed more when to do than when they don't. Especially with RB's short self life.

Said this before. For a RB, 30 is the done year. With the new CBA, your first 4 year contract is structured to ***** you. So doing the math of a typical situation, 18 in college. 3 year mandatory before NFL =21. 4 year ***** you first contract = 25, which means a true RB only has 5 years of anything close to real money. Why push it to only 4? Doesn't make much sense to come back for RB. Duke should leave for that alone, but mama duke said he can't leave till the degree. He better be busting his *** to get the degree in 3 years.

Agreed…the best business decision for a talented running back coming into college is to demand a redshirt. Sad to say, but it's the truth. Especially with the devaluation of RB's in the NFL along with that you said.

I am watching Recruiting Nation on ESPN U and they are saying that Brandon Harris might be in the mix for LSU. Deshaun Watson might also be in the mix at Clemson. Kaaya can most certainly be our guy!

Our problem the last several years is relying too heavily on guys with little to no experience. Now we have a guy coming in at QB who is tearing it up, and of course we are all excited to see him play. However, I never want to go back to the days of absolutely needing contributions from 18 year olds. Sure, if you get a guy that's game ready, and is better than the older guys, you play him. Lately our young guys have been better than the older guys because the older guys just weren't very good. Thank goodness that's changing. Now if we see a freshman come in and contribute, he actually has to be pretty good. Big difference from years past. Thanks goodness we're getting back to where were once were. Young, talented guys come in, but have to wait their turn, because the guys ahead of them are talented as well. Much unlike 2012 where there was no one ahead of many true freshmen coming in.

IN ORDER FOR A FRESHMAN TO HAVE SUCCESS THEY MUST HAVE ABOVE AVERAGE TO SUPER STAR TALENT AROUND THEM!
That is why why we put in freshmen and they look like freshmen. If we had an experience great OLINE and Coley was JR and Duke a SR with equal or better Skill players to replace them then BK would easily be able to come in and have a dynamite season. But what happens when you have a ?? Oline, with BK and Yearby (does he know pass pro assignment?) in the backfield on 2 and 8 on the road in nebraska?

Those were the number 1 and 2 dual threat qbs this year
