Who Ya Got? Morris or Covington?

Lol at Covington because of the ucla game. I admit he didn't do anything to hurt us during the game but having the best rb in Miami Hurricanes history was the **** reason

this. Edge ran for 300 ******* yards that day. He was the only reason we won. Bc we couldn't stop them at all. at all. **** at halftime Butch was telling the team about the Cowboys beating 49ers on a day when they only forced a punt once but bc they could run the ball they had a chance. The offensive line and Edge took it as a personal challenge and won that game. I'd take Covington over Morris but it is the most blatant example of revisionist history to credit anyone but Edge or the OL

Had a heated debate over a couple hundred pops the other night as to who you'd take at QB with all else being equal- Snickers or Scott Covington? I tried to end the debate by stating that Covington wins the Dook debacle last season and may even take another NFL snap before Snickers even dresses for the Jags but some clown jumped in and said he'd take Ryan Clement over both. Who would you take?

Tough choice. Could Morris beat East Carolina?
Ryan Clement ('96) and Kenny Kelly ('99) lost to ECU, not Covington.

Covington was 21 of 36 in the 96 loss to ECU.

Clement started, Covington did that off the bench.

I know. But clement was hurt in the 1st Q with the score 7-6 ECU. Covington produced 0 points in 3 full quarters, so I give him the loss.

We can disagree on who gets the loss. It's all good. I think we can agree that's it was one of the more humiliating losses in modern Cane history.

No way, '99 was worse.;)
I lived in southeastern N.C. at the time of both losses. **** on earth with that fan base.

Ohhhhh, I wholeheartedly agree that Edge was immortal that game and the only reason we even had a chance to win. That said, Covington didn't take us out of it, did what he had to do to match McNown that day (went 19/28 for 318 yds and 0 Int's) and looked pretty **** solid on the last drive. I would have ZERO faith in Morris in a game like this. Start at the 7:55 mark as it's worth watching for Andre King on the UCLA sideline alone :

Their career QB ratings are actually very similar, albeit in a much larger sample size for Morris:
Covington: 133
Morris: 137.8

Morris probably has more "upside" because of his arm strength but I have a hard time forgetting how he would dash out of bounds 3 yards short of the first down marker or miss open receivers by 5 yards, or hit offensive linemen on the back of the head on screen passes...

You make it seem like he always hit linemen in the back of the head or always ran short of the first down... That only occurred once... Morris was better than Covington...

I'd rather choose Frank Costa.....'94 Canes all the way
