Seems like the 80's and early 90s are littered with possibilities, and then you have an old timer like Mira.

We've got:

Jim Kelly: Helped turn around the program, went on to a hall of fame pro career.
Bernie Kosar: Led some great teams
Vinny Testaverde: #1 overall pick and had a long pro career
Gino Torretta: Won the heisman
Ken Dorsey: Only lost 2 games as a starter, should've won 2 National Championships, but had a great supporting cast.

Who would you make the all-time great QB at UM?

George Mira or Kosar based upon college and pro performances

If we're considering CFB and pro careers, it has to be Jim Kelly.

But for those of you who say that Ray Lewis wasn't the best LB in Miami history (speaking strictly of college play), I'm going with either Vinny or Ken Dorsey. Had Vinny not completely folded at the '87 Fiesta bowl, that '86 team would be considered Top Five all time. No lie. And Ken Dorsey's record speaks for itself.

At Miami...Ken Dorsey followed closely by Steve Walsh
Pro Career...Jim Kelly

in no order #1 is a three way tie between Dorsey, Kosar, Kelly. The next rung would be Mira, Walsh, Testaverde/Toretta.

My bad for leaving Walsh off the original guys I listed we was awesome at the U. I tend to agree with you though, Dorsey was an unbelievable QB, and was robbed of his 2nd national Championship, and nearly pulled out the game in Washington in that would have the Canes in a 3rd National Championship game.

Love Dorsey - go with Walsh due to big wins
- 87 Walsh: Beats 5 Top 10 Teams - Started Season vs 3 Top 20 Team - This is my favorite Cane team - 2001 took 3 years off my life when i was at the BC and Va Tech game
- 88 Walsh: Beats 4 Top 11 Teams
- 00 Dorsey: Beats 3 Top 10 Teams
- 01 Dorsey: Beats 1 Top 10 Team
- 02 Dorsey: Beats 2 Top Teams

Only argument for Dorsey - He had Coker and Walsh had Jimmy

Physical talent/ability wise it was Testaverde, easily.

Best? Gotta be between Dorsey and Walsh. Cant go wrong with either one.

Man those are 2 great QB's. I would give my left nut to have a QB put up those kind of stats.

I understand he wasn't the most physically gifted QB to ever come through the program...but I'll roll with Steve Walsh any day. He came a BS call away from winning two....then again you could say the same thing about Dorsey.

Walsh was just like Dorsey except I think he had a little more arm strength. Either way I like my QB's to be of the intelligent variety....and both those guys fit the bill.

Dorsey actually should've had 3. I thought we were also the best team in 2000.
