That isn't his issue. Spending three consecutive semesters at the same JUCO was his issue. IF he was all set to come in as a mid-year entrant if not for the ACC rule then his AA should have nothing to do with it. The summer session at the JUCO sounds like busy work to fulfill the ACC's rule.

Chick and Kamalu are one type of player.

AQM, Harris and Jackson are another type of player.

Who knows WTF Hoilett and Perry are.

Pierre regressed but he fits his role, I guess.

Wyche and Heurtelou will be our NT. Jenkins will be our nose in the future but should shirt this season as should Moten who'll probably be in Pierre's role.

Moore, Hamilton and King haven't shown anything at all to give me confidence in them. Moore doesn't even fit this scheme. He's the stumpiest nose ever.

When you list a bunch of names, yeah it looks good. But when you break down those players we have about 5 bodies (Chick, Kamalu, Wyche, Heurelou and Pierre) that can be counted on along the DL to give us quality time on the field and a whole bunch of hopes and dreams behind them.
 
On paper, the 3-4 looks solid. Hopefully these guys really turn it up in the off season and step it up next season.

It ain't getting any better in the middle which is whats most concerning. Might even be getting worse.

There is a bright spot....I hate myself for even saying that. The pass rush is getting better and will be better, and the secondary can be really good and take advantage of the outside pressure. We just need to be able to score points since we are still going to give up a **** ton of yards and points. A team that creates turnovers can do some things though, but that's just me attempting to look at this optimistically for a change. We do have some exciting weapons on the outside of the defense.

I agree, except that I would also add in AQM to that group. That's a total of 6 that we feel pretty good about relying on. Not great by any stretch, but not terrible either.

I would separate the "hopes and dreams" group into 2 categories. Guys like Thomas. Hamilton and Moten have a decent chance of contributing if they can get up to speed quickly (Thomas and Moten) and come in healthy for once (Hamilton). The rest of the guys, either due to being way too raw or just plain untalented, are truly hope and prayer.

Sure there are bodies, but elite DT's or NT's are hard to come by.

Lots of bodies does not always equal "enough talent".

With so many unknowns right now to make any predictions, especially with Huertelou and Wyche coming in new.
 
This group of players doesn't wow you. Goldens dt recruiting has been garbage. I'm looking for more of the same From this group.

I believe this is the year we will see some positive surprises. Still wondering what happened to OP, when Porter returned two years ago, he went crazy. Wonder if they were worn down as the season went on.

Wyche and Huertelou are 320 each. If they can force the Playside guard to help out, it frees up the ILB to blow up the play.

the OLBs cant get pressure when they are lined up outside the hash over a slot WR

Agree on his sheer and utter inability to address one of the most pressing positions on the team.

He's done great w/ RB, WR, maybe even TE, sketchy at QB, OK w/ OL even, but as to the Front-7 he's been miserable.

We're never going to see a great U defense like this.

he has done OK at WR. without Coley it would be a complete fail there too
