Imagine what kind of athlete you have to be to get drafted in the FIRST round of the sport which is your second best sport. I would have loved to have seen him play QB at the NFL level.

Those late 1970s/early1980s teams were absolutely stacked, sending lots of NFLers including HOFers.
They were on the level of the great 2000-2001 UM teams.
Players like Marcus Allen, Anthony Munoz, Keith Van Horne, Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith, Clay Matthews, Rikki Ellison, etc.

The best to ever do it is Jared Lorenzen also known as Hefty Lefty, aka Pillsbury throw Boy.. J/K but RIP to the big man!

On a serious note Vince Young, Reggie Bush, Andrew Luck took games over all by themselves but I'm a defensive guy so for overall stout career I'm going with:

Luke Kuechly at BC he was (what the youngin's say now days HIM!) a pesky nose for the ball menace that was all over the field, took over for starting OLB Mark Herzlich in 2009 who had bone cancer, he led the ACC and ranked second nationally in tackles in his true freshman season with 158, including 87 solo tackles.
2010 Sophomore season he moved to middle linebacker and led the country in tackles with 163 including 97 solo tackles.
2011 Junior season, he won the Butkus Trophy, Nagurski Trophy, Lombardi Award, and Jack Lambert Trophy tallying 191 tackles including 102 solo tackles. 2011 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time First Team All-ACC selection.
Finished his college career from 2009-2011 with 532 tackles, which is THIRD in NCAA history and the two players above him played 2019-2024 with 555 tackles and 2018-2022 with 577 tackles.. DO THE MATH 🤯

While Boston College at the time wasn't playing anyone elite his numbers were mind boggling and was a pleasure to watch except for the 45 yard pick six thrown by Jacory for his 4th pick of the game giving BC a ten point lead and the game-clinching score. Pshhh

My boy KONG SUH from Nebraska (unfortunately I'm a closet Husker) with gaudy video game like numbers is runner up.

Bo Jackson. Biased because I also saw him hit a ball in Toronto when he was with the Royals that was just foul and 20 rows above the gold painted seat where Jose Canseco's longest landed that I believe is still there. Also saw Bo break a bat over his head, not the knee like he did often, when he struck out with bases loaded in Tiger Stadium. And watched his only ejection from a sporting event n Port Charlotte playing the Texas Rangers in Spring during the Umpire Strike. Little banty rooster home plate ump tossed him for arguing balls and strikes - his 15 minutes.

Then Tebow - that Babe Ruth style "called shot" speech after the loss made him legendary in college football.
