An outside consultant, probably Leavitt, gave the search team (DiMare, Kosar & Hocutt) a short list of top names. A former UM player who works in the NFL said the U team only needed to talk to one guy - Golden. He was considered far and away the best candidate by the former player.

Alonzo is a scout for Greenbay, and was very impressed with how organized and efficient Golden was running practice, camps and pro days.

Chefcane might take credit for it, but my guess is Golden contacted us. Did we have a search committee? I don't remember one, but that would be the other choice
