As of right now Richts first full class is a bit of a disappointment. Who do we have to close with for this class to not be disappointing.

Im going to say McFarland, Holloman/Smith, Harley, Two out of Herbert, Telfort, Slaton, Brini salvages the class for me and gets me excited.

Im curious..who out of this class would you say "doesnt belong" or you would dump if you had the chance? Since you say this class is a disappointment so far...

More about who we are missing. Losing Henderson, not having another top notch corner to replace him, missing out on Jeudy, only having 1 of the 4 big time So Fla linemen, Polendey in the class but no Gamble or Mckittry...a lot of work left to be done.

Agree.. maybe he should have said, "If signing day was today and we ended with this class it would be a bit of a disappointment"...To say this class is a disappointment now and not know whom else we add is being debbie downerish..

Not sure how you can make any conclusions at this point:

- Brini is probably silent or at worst, all but a formality. Henderson probably goes to UF. Still like a CB class of DeeJay, Bandy and Brini a lot.

- Still think we get at least 1 out of Harley, Holloman and Smith, with 2 out of the 3 a very impressive haul

- Don't see how we miss on McKitty given that there is a likely coaching change coming up at Oregon

- Who knows with McFarland but we seem to be trending positively there

- The pivot seems to be at OL

This is who I want, of the players who are not committed, without it being too far in dreamland:

RB: Anthony McFarland

WR: Jeremiah Holloman, Devonta Smith, Marquise Brown

TE: Tre McKitty

OL: Slaton (doesn't seem like the other two are coming)

CB : Latavious Brini, Antwan Collier

I think we have a solid class already, but there is no doubt in my mind we need more CBs and WRs in this class. If we close out with the guys I listed above, I think it's a top 5 class overall. Just my opinion.

The must-haves...

- 2 blue-chip OL to join Donaldson (two out of Herbert, Slaton, Telfort)
- 2 blue-chip CBs to join Dallas/Bandy (i.e. getting Henderson back & another top-tier athlete, not Brini or last-second backup plans)
- At least one of Holloman or Smith at WR. Landing both would be enormous. I assume we have no chance with Jeudy, but might as well keep trying.

Adding as much nationally coveted talent as possible such as McFarland at RB or a ballhawking FS to join the box safeties we have committed will also be very important. There aren't enough blue-chippers and there isn't enough Miami speed in the class yet, but there's plenty of time to remedy that. Beating UVA/NCSU/Duke and winning the bowl game would help.

Have the coaches or Deejay said he was playing CB? I thought he said he was being brought in to play WR? Seems like most think it's a forgone conclusion that he ends up at CB. I don't think that's the case. I have no inside knowledge, just think Richt wants the ball in his hands.

Go Canes!

CROOTIN SEASON JUST GETTIN STARTED :greedy_dollars:

He said he thinks he's playing CB on Pete's podcast a couple weeks ago. Pretty sure it's what the staff has told him.

I think since he isn't complaining about the finished product, it classifies more accurately as "doubting Thomasish".

Thoughts?

I love this class just like I loved the last class..(I go by a different set of rules...I look for how many guys in the class "dont belong"..I look for the Brendan Luftus, Larry Hope, George Robinson, Danny Stengall, Jacoby Briscoe types..) If you have a class of 25 and count 8 of these guys then your class is a disappointment. A 1/3 of your class cannot be guys who are "50/50" guys. Meaning 50% chance that his ceiling is being a backup by the time he graduates or a 50% chance he transfers out before he is a Jr.

All that said..If we dont close with...

WR - 2 out of the 4...(Holliman, DSmith, Harley, MSmith)....DISCLAIMER: Holliman or DSmith have to be one of the two. We have to hit on one of them. MSmith and Harley wont do.

RB - Have to hit on McFarland to go with Burns.

OL - Have to hit on 2 of the 4. (Slaton/Telfot/Herbert/Chandler)..Im trying to be realistic. We arent getting 3 out of the 4 IMO. Wishful thinking. Getting 2 to go with Donaldson/Dykstra/Hillery wont be a complete fail.

DB - We have to find a way to get either Henderson back in this class or find some other JUCO DB who can play right away. Adding Brini is cool for depth but whats his ceiling? Edwards looks to be gone.

Getting McKitty would be icing on a cake. I like the kid and unless he has some dying loyalty to the great state of Oregon I have no idea why he would keep that commitment unless he is one of those people who actually thinks Chip Kelly is going back there next year. He should be ours. He sees what we do with our TE. No brainer.

Marquise Brown and Harley with either Smith/Holloman would address our speed issues at wr.

What I said is exactly the same thing as the wording you mentioned. Who else do we need to sign to make this a worthy class?

So far, this isn't the first year bump class I was expecting. Rum has been an abject failure recruiting his former players, and that has hurt us badly.

Once again, we're hemorrhaging sponjulix when it comes to losing local blue-chip guys.

Not saying i disagree, but if CMR can close with McFarland, Slaton, Holloman/Smith, Harley, Hebert/Telfort, Brini, McKitty we'd have a great class that would probably be top 10. That would mean at least 30% of the class would be "blue Chip recruits" with the rest of the class mostly comprised with S. Fl and Florida talent. Isn't that what we want at Miami?
