You have a very valid point and I'm probably allowing my opinion of him now skew his prep career.

Should we also take into account guys that played offense and defense? They made their mark on both sides of the ball.

Even though they didn't come together, they both ended up here:

DJ Williams was the USA Today National Defensive Player of the Year in 1999
Brock Berlin was the USA Today National Offensive Player of the Year in 1999

Kenny Phillips was the USA Today National Defensive player of the Year in 2004
Seantrel Henderson was the USA Today National Offensive player of the Year in 2009

all i know is that j12 led that northwestern team to a national title and he won mr football in florida..
