Where are we? - Program Rebuild

We are FUN to watch. Finally passes the eye test on offense

Defense is,perplexing…blown coverages and detail getting us in trouble

Louisville, to my eyes, is better than their record

We cannot underestimate these away game environments. Canes are going in there and keeping cool. The lethal attitude they take on away teams is cool to see again all these years later.

Yes I need the defense to be better but heck, we might just outscore everyone.

We are relevant! Which is not what can be said of many previous seasons. D looks like crap in the middle and back end.

But your team is being talked about for once and will stack more chips at each position as we win out the recruiting battles that we should and want to. The climb to being back is steep but it seems like it’s doable for the first time in 15+ years.

AND….we are p***ing everybody off. The hate is so real. I’m giddy.

So tired of hearing the question "Are we back". For Miami, that means in the running for a national title every year. Until then, we're not back.

Garbage team with a generational QB! If not for Ward, team is 4-3/3-4. Mario is a below average HC. Yep, 52% on this site are ****ed at me and denying it right about now and I could give two *****! My eyes as a 58 yr old don’t lie.

The reality is nothing has changed other than #1. Let’s enjoy each quarter, half, end of game. Next year it gets back to 7-5…

Go Canes! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

He’s definitely flawed and I’ve been a loud critic but he’s improved his game management.

He and his staff also should get credit for successfully recruiting someone like Cam instead of it somehow being used against him.

What's with this FSU comparison? They're 1-6!! Our worst team ever (2022) tripped up and won 5 games and 3 of them in the ACC. Yes, we're heading in the right direction. The whole country is talking about us again and just enjoy this beautiful offense. Also lets also not forget we just came out of a 7-6 season with Rutgers running all over us

"We back" should never be used again. That golden era is over. College Football changed so much since 2001 and 2 teams. For us to be back we need to go on a Georgia run

Natural progression:

Step 1 - lose big
Step 2 - lose close
Step 3 - win close
Step 4 - win comfortable and consistent

We’re in step 3 right now. Question is can we maintain and move toward step 4, fully move to step 4 or still gover between 2 and 3.

Clear as mud right? 😂

We are in the first peak of a long road to "back". I expect a drop off next year and then we will be on the ascent in 2026 and beyond. Building a championship program takes time--especially when you where we were.

Next season will be the time to ask this question. I do expect a drop off but if the defense improves we might be back where we are right now. A lesser offense but a better defense.

We’ve recruited well but it’s been unbalanced

We’ve had to “take it personally” with a different position each year. The elite teams recruit across all positions every year. I don’t care for the people that just point to our recruiting team rankings
That's not really accurate. Our last two classes (both easily top 10) have been pretty strong across the board with the exception of DB. Sure the 2023 class emphasized OL but we got some good DL (Obviously Bain), good LBs, RBs. Same with the 2024 class - emphasized DL but we got good WRs, LBs, RBs. Hopefully the 2024 class hits it out of the ballpark with DBs, and is reasonably strong elsewhere.

DB is a head-scratcher. Almost mind-boggling given our location. We honestly haven't recruited well there in a decade or more.

And it shows on the field. You got a good dline but don't have the backers nor the secondary bc they've been focused on recruiting Dline. I think I rather see recruiting a good Dlineman, good LB n good CB than recruiting Dline and ignoring the back end of the defense.
Have you actually been following the recruiting D Nic has been doing at linebacker ?

Yeah don’t get me wrong we’ve recruited great. **** for the team we have been fielding our recruiting has been other worldly

But it will get easier with wins to attract more balanced classes and just overall talent where we don’t have to spend so many resources in one spot

But I also do not like the class ranking thing. Average recruit ranking to me is better to look at

I’m fine with “good” players too but we are talking the elite teams here is what I mean. If we wanna be them our classes need to have better players overall

The truth is we'd be hovering around .500 for the third straight year if we didn't land an absolute gamebreaker at QB. Thankfully Mario never stopped trying, even after Ward initially declared for the draft, and we're reaping the rewards with a thrilling, edge-of-your-seat team being carried by a lethal offense.

The prior board-wide narrative from previous off-seasons about how we should aspire to trot out a game manager surrounded by quality talent SHOULD be 100% dead now.

Elite QB's are an absolute must in 2024 if you want to have a chance to compete for anything meaningful.
And an OL

We are better but not there yet.

But geez this place is full of some miserable *****. This is light years better than it has been. Give it a rest and enjoy it for what it is. If you thought we should be a champion contender by now then that’s on you.

The most important part of this run is whether it captures the attention of the NIL money dudes. Show them what success feels like but point to places where we need to continue investing

7-0. Cam Ward masks a lot of problems. 7-0.

Need to repeat this off-season’s portal success + secondary.
