Miami has played some competitive **** teams the last 2 months. I know uva has a terrible record but they took Louisville to the brink to which they had to score a last minute touchdown and we handled them rather easily. Let's be honest nc state should have beat both Clemson and fsu and are a better team then their record indicates. That's 7 straight weeks of pretty tough opponents and Miami could of and should have won every game even with a young team. Regardless it bolds well for the future, there is a ton of talent on the team and I love the new and improved defense..

App state 8-3
Ga Tech 7-4
Fsu 8-3
UNC 8-3
Va tech 8-3
Notre Dame 4-7
Pittsburgh 7-4
Virginia 2-9
NC State 5-6

On another note I think the coastal is stronger top to bottom than the Atlantic division this year too

If we win out, which includes the bowl game, you can at least sell that we're improving as the season goes on. We're "getting better" going into next season. This is the narrative you should discuss, not that we played some "**** competitve teams." That is bullchit.

But at this point, we lost to every real team with a pulse and beat the worst teams on the schedule. We also somehow lost to Notre Dame. Our best win is Pitt, who like us, lost to the best teams in the coastal.

So hopefully we win out, including the bowl game, and ride some "improvement" into next season. Don't forget, this team last year, finished the regular season at 8-4 and that was without much coaching and against a harder schedule.

Also, all of these real goals/accomplishments (i.e. Winning the coastal) were totally possible and within reach. Also Fuente, in year one, actually improved VT and can win the coastal.

we have a bunch of young guys playing at crucial spots. It is what it is they held up for the most part. And if you don't think a team that was on the brink of beating Clemson had their kicker not missed a chip shot or db dropping a game saving end zone late in the 4th quarter against fsu is not a tough opponent then Idk what to tell you. Uva almost beat Louisville if not for late game heroic vs them. So it's nothing when we beat these teams rather easily but when the other top teams struggle against them y'all dismiss that fact...

Brock, you make some good points. But, as someone told me a long time ago, the transitive property does not work in football. Just because team A played team B close it doesn't make team C's game against team A any different. Those games happen independently of one another.

Point is, people should consider how well certain underdog opponents play against the top teams in CFB, but the consideration should be very little. How well NCST plays against divisional opponents they see every year doesn't hold much weight when comparing how well Miami plays them.

Realistically, people's disappointment that we haven't won more games this season shapes their perspectives to want to dismiss sunshine views or tones of overt positives unless those views are soundly founded. If you want to talk up the good, you better come stronger than that.

we have a bunch of young guys playing at crucial spots.

First, the offense. We have 10 of 11 starters returning on the offense. The difference is we lost R. Scott and now have A. Richards (you know the stud). In our four losses, we averaged 19 points per game. In those four losses, we averaged 328 total yards per game.

Here are the murderers' row of defenses we faced in those games:

FSU

Total D: 36th (370.8 YPG)
Scoring D: 48th (25.5 PPG)

UNC

Total D: 69th (411.8 YPG)
Scoring D: 45th (24.6 PPG)

VT

Total D: 20th (333.9 YPG)
Scoring D: 28th (22.1 PPG)

ND

Total D: 42nd (375.8 YPG)
Scoring D: 55th (26.3 PPG)

To review:

1. One top 25 defense
2. Average Total D is 42nd
3. Average Scoring D is 44th
4. In ACC Play (all 7 opponents), Miami is averaging 28 Points Per Game
5. In ACC Play (all 7 opponents), Miami is averaging 387 Yards Per Game

So essentially the same offense, is still yielding poor results. Last year's offense was led by James Coley, he is the WR coach at UGA. Last's years offense was bad. This years offense is slightly less bad. It isn't hard to out perform James Coley, especially when you have an older and more experienced offense.

Random Tidbit: Our best offensive performance was against Pitt when we scored 51 points. Pitt is 101st in Total D and 109th in Scoring D. They have the worst D we have played so far in conference.

------------------

Second, the defense. What needs to be said. New DC comes in, leads some freshman LB and makes dramatic improvement.

Miami's Scoring D is 16th or 18.7 PPG
Miami's Total D is 25th or 351.5 YPG

If we win out, there is some hope and it brings some consolation.

But, no matter how you slice it, this season is a disappointment. At minimum we should be 9-2 right now. All 4 losses were putrid, but the FSU and ND losses were inexcusable. Both teams were down this year (holy **** how bad is ND), and we found a way to lose both games.

The first year coach excuse doesn't cut it as Fuentes won the coastal in his first year.

Best win of the season was the Pitt win.

They've beaten two top 10 teams.

PSU and Clemson

Kaaya is ultimately the deciding factor. At times, he looks pretty good and we can win lots with him. However, when he is average, which occurs often, we are an average team. I've accepted Kaaya for what he is. Average.

The upside is the Defense. Lots of youth that improved as the season progressed. I expect more from them next year! Mark Walton is another young player that should explode next season. And lastly, let's not give up on the OL. Searles is a good coach and it seems Richt and staff have altered some schemes to help the OL.

Can I sit up and think about your porst or do I have to sit back? Either way I think it's genius. :XvfmlQQ:

I believe Kaaya will be better next season....him and Richt seem to have gotten through that learning each other phase....history shows that QBs in Richts system are night and day better in year 2. We add better players at WR and OL, and get defensive depth and next year could be great
