Yes, claims. Kennedy claimed we could put a man on the moon before the decade was out and made it happen.
I was alive when JFK made that promise, I sat in my parents kitchen and watched us take a giant leap for mankind. I heard JFK make and keep a lot of promises, he was a Man of his word. Elon musk is no JFK

I remember thinking we'd be a lot further along than we are. The promise as a kid in the 70's was awesome.
For All Mankind does a pretty interesting job of showing what it would have been like technologically if the space race had not ended and funding curtailed.

In the 1970s the plans were for multiple space stations, space shuttle, and a lunar base. That got curtailed to just Skylab and the space shuttle.

He's got a pretty good track record so far. Aiming for 97% reusability.

I remember we'd have space stations at Lagrange points between here and the moon. I remember in the late 80's the goal was to develop a single stage to orbit.

Does Elon Musk have the VP, the CIA, and the Mafia conspiring to assassinate him? 😉

Good for him! It’s a great deal for us and such an excellent school. I’ve worked with a ton of Tech grads and have found them to be generally pretty good people. My son is only in elementary school, but already talks about wanting to go there for college. He attends a lot of STEM camps on weekends and in the summer so he’s on campus a lot.

Regarding GT leaving the ACC, I don’t see them doing it unless the conference really starts to implode. They certainly would be not the leaders in any of this. If half the conference leaves, and they ALSO get a tag-along invite - say to the B10 - then I see them taking it. But it’s way too early for them. They are thrilled with beating us and playing UGA competitively and being the nerd school.
Financially, Tech, UGA and all the state schools are great deals and very good schools.
And of course if he’s into STEM, Tech and even KSU are great options. Enjoy it. Sounds like you have a smart son.
