While both were bad, I believe ours is far worse. FS💩 got snubbed because of injury and the world seeing them as a worse team after. While we were snubbed because of the CFP’s work. Like they had to play around with the rankings to make their hypocritical reason to snub us. At the end of the day both show how weak the ACC is (not the teams).

*Also for the record. At the end of the day, this all falls back to being on us

honestly, fsu and I don’t think it’s particularly debatable. Losing their starting QB should not have factored in to the playoff decision at all. There were 21 other players that helped them run the table and they got penalized for something that had zero to do with performance. They earned the right to get clobbered in the playoffs.

UM put itself on the bubble by losing 2 of its last 3 games while having the best qb in cfb. It’s a bit ironic-
they feel they deserved to get because their Heisman worthy candidate wasnt the only one responsible for team success and they were still worth watching, we feel we deserved to get in because our Heisman worthy candidate was the one responsible for team success and he made us worth watching.

They won a key game in part because their entire team stepped up crunch time to help a backup QB and keep them undefeated. Total team win.

We lost a key game when our all time leading receiver fumbled a ball and it was returned for a TD, another receiver headbutted a DB in front of the ref, and the defense gave McCord the easiest game of his college career. Total team failure.

They had zero control of what playoff committee would decide and did everything they had to. It was out of their hands.

We controlled our own fate going into the final game of the season, yet roughly 8 players on the starting roster actually played like it really mattered.

Another huge data point these teams want to get the F out of the ACC; FSU, Clemson and hopefully now Miami. ACC just not respected by the powers that be.

I agree that FSU earned their spot in the playoffs and it was unjustly taken from them. But the CFP committee probably picked the most competitive teams under the circumstances.

In our case, we have a better record, best offense in football and a possible first pick of the draft. There is no convincing argument that Bama is a better team then ours.

Lol

While I acknowledge its a 12 team
playoff vs a 4 team playoff…

Ya’ll are going ape**** over being “snubbed” after losing 2 games and not even making it to Charlotte. A handful of you would probably off yourself if we went 13-0 with no playoff appearance. Stop this, stop it right now.
we didnt seal the deal. forget about the playoffs. it gives us more time to fire our dc and get a new staff.

How many SEC teams are we better than?

Cake schedule and we blew it. We only have ourselves to blame.

Something I hadn’t thought about, if any of these teams suffer a QB injury in their conference title game, we have to be in right? Committee set a precedent last season. They can’t walk that back

Major injury was literally written down as part of the criteria the committee was to use in selecting 4 teams in the prior iteration of the college playoff. As "unfair" as it was to FSU, it could and was literally used as a reason to keep FSU out of the playoff.

There is no such criteria this year, nor has Miami had a similar significant injury.

Do you remember that time Congress set the precedence of not confirming a supreme Court Justice in an election year? I believe the quote is something like (paraphrasing) "This is the precedent we are setting... You can call me a hypocrite if we do this." Then 4 years later they did the opposite?

Lesson here is stuff like that doesn't matter. What matters is who has the power. Everything else is just an argument for the public to swallow and look the other way.

Everybody even the AP has changed how they rank teams based on what the new postseason format is like. It's all a beauty contest to get the money makers (SEC) in.

Laughing at FSU last year was both the right move as a Miami fan but at the same time every ACC team should have been outraged and openly campaigning for them when the anti FSU rhetoric started by ESPN.

Now we all understand the bias will impact us all if we put ourselves in that spot. I saw better campaigning this year on our behalf but it needs to go up a lot more or the whole league doesn’t understand the spot we’re in.

Injury is a completely horsesh!t factor to consider for the playoffs. Teams can adapt and figure out a way to minimize the absence or you could have a no-name qb shine on the big stage. A team that runs the table and was a lock for the playoffs with a healthy team should get the same consideration without a key player. I’d say that whether it was us or anyone else.

But to be perfectly honest, all this has pretty much turned me off to cfb. Was kind of hoping the Playoff committee wouldnt want to turn itself into an object of ridicule in its first season. Nope. Even worse than I thought it could be. They wanted certain teams in and others out and made it abundantly clear. Cfb isnt merit based, it’s based on a bunch of corrupt jackoffs with zero accountability in a room trying to figure out how to cram the most B1G and SEC teams in the post season. Wouldn’t be surprised now if there is a season where no team is undefeated in the regular season and the playoff committee justifies putting in a 4 loss SEC team over a 2 loss ACC team.

I’m done paying attention to cfb until it dumps this playoff committee bullsh!t and goes with purely objective criteria. Yeah I know it’s going to be a while.

It’s unfortunate that I’m indirectly harming UM as I’m done buying all the little UM jerseys and other stuff for my kids. It’s not much money but I liked that UM got a cut from the merchandise. And it was great to see my kids excited about a brand newUM jacket since they outgrew their last one. But you know, this was a problem the ACC helped create and it has ended up ******** its two most storied teams. ACC could have sprouted a sack and tried to get all the non P2 conferences on board to tell the P2 to f#ck off and go play with themselves, we collectively aren’t joining a system designed by them for their own benefit. But school presidents and ADs love that tv money and that takes priority. They made their bed and now they have to sleep in it.

And when one of the SEC or B1G teams inevitably wins the title, I’ll just chuckle when I hear their fans talking about it. Must have been a huge relief to know that having multiple losses in the regular season doesnt matter since they have a playoff system designed just for them.

I agree with you. Injuries never should have never been a factor, yet they did specifically include it in the written parameters of picking teams in the previous playoff and all conferences signed off on it. It is what it is.

IMO, it's even worse now that wins and losses matter more in certain conferences than others. I'm leaning toward being done with cfb as well. Each year the powers that be take away more and more of what made cfb great.
