For all those so dead set against a new stadium Ruiz is determined to make it happen. Nothing talks louder than money in the real estate world. I would not be surprised either way.
David Klinger and Houston? In the top 5 would have been on a Thursday night. I’m forgetting the name of the QB but he was up for the hiesman trophy and we brutalized him. The crowd was so loud on TV they showed the Miami bench yelling “Orange Bowl” Orange Bowl”.
In the to 5 for the Fins was in a Monday night and ZRon Jaworski was in the West End zone and could not run a play in 3 straight attempts.
Not against it! I will always hold the OB close since I grew up going to the Dolphins and Canes games since the late 70"s. But I'm in reality and I don't want to have a tiny bounce house in Miami(Coral Gables is a pipe dram) when we play in a state of the art NFL stadium that holds super bowls and NC games. Has amazing tailgating and can b among the loudest stadiums in the country when packed. For all those so dead set against a new stadium Ruiz is determined to make it happen. Wasn't going to go, had to be at work 0645 hrs.David Klingler. Miami at the Cougars lunch, 40-10. Loud as **** Thursday night game. Was there as a high school senior getting loose.
If the new stadium is a touch smaller than the Rock all it will need is that tarped roof which magically keeps the noise bouncing off ceilings. Not against it! I'll be on my couch crying to see this or we back.....last night i almost caught a tear in my eye watching the ND and UM highights. After watching OSU Michigan the way Michigan felt is the way we will feel. Rooting for those dudes to shock the world they got speed.Goosebumps…. During that game I got emotional from how good the atmosphere was that night…can’t wait to feel/see that again
Speaking of loud….
I would say yes and I lost my voice that day. But the 85 Bears game was also one of the loudest games ever played at the OB.That's the Loudest Moment in OB History...I've been to 200+ UM games since 1975...only 20 away...and nothing was Louder than the explosion when Carlos hit the Goal line....But for a complete game, ND 1989 as @Cryptical Envelopment said, stands alone...Total bedlam for 3-4 hrs....
Don’t forget it will also be remembered for “3rd and 43”You're mashing up three different 80's era games against Notre Dame.
— Miami beat Notre Dame 58-7 in 1985; 3:30pm ET kickoff at the Orange Bowl.
— Miami shutout Notre Dame 24-0 in 1987; 3:30pm ET kickoff at the Orange Bowl.
— Miami got revenge on defending national champion Notre Dame in 1989; 8:00pm ET primetime kickoff in the Orange Bowl ... it what will forever be remembered as the loudest game ever at that gorgeous bucket of bolts stadium.
58 points in the 1985 game, shutout in the 1987 game and the only primetime game was 1989.
Me too...ND and VT games were glorious. Glad I was there.Goosebumps…. During that game I got emotional from how good the atmosphere was that night…can’t wait to feel/see that again
Nice vid great shot of Bobby in disgust. That's the Loudest Moment in OB History...I've been to 200+ UM games since 1975...only 20 away...and nothing was Louder than the explosion when Carlos hit the Goal line....But for a complete game, ND 1989 as @Cryptical Envelopment said, stands alone...Total bedlam for 3-4 hrs....
What if you love yourself too much to sit in a metal box for 2.5 hrs round trip? This makes sense. A stadium near campus doesn't. Most people at any game stadium, no matter if on or off campus, are not students and drive to the venue from around the region.
HR has easy access. Everyone still has to take transportation to and from the stadium, no matter where the stadium is located so the only difference is a few minutes drive time, plus or minus. And HR is an excellent, Super Bowl-worthy stadium. The roof makes it as loud or louder than any stadium once we are winning a reasonable amount.
I live near the campus. It takes me about 25 minutes to HR. TP would be closer for me, but only by 5-10 minutes.
First time since the OB that I've seen someone get a Bacardi bottle cracked over the top of their dome.....and that was in the POST-GAME tailgate. Ahhhh, it was glorious even if it was only for one game. THAT game and THAT atmosphere made me feel like appropriating this scene and line from this f*cking movie:
I hated that stadium before the roof.
