What offensive personnel would you like to see this season?

On very rare occasions they do, but most Slot guys handle the middle of the field, intermediate throws and screens, etc. which is not Dorsett's strengths. He needs to be on the outside so he can have space and use his straight line speed where he is most effective.

Dorsett isn't a Slot guy. He doesn't make catches over the middle and really isn't Shifty. Slot will be Malcom Lewis, Herb and Berrios.

Since there's no media at scrimmage, I'd like to start some offensive football talk. What personnel groupings, formations would you all like to see this season? Give me base personnel, personnel based on down and distance, and situational as well--goal line, 4 minute drill, hurry up, etc.

I think our base offense should definitely be single back, 3 wide, 1 TE.

Herb at flanker, Warlord at TE, Dorsett in the slot and Coley out wide with Duke of course in the backfield.

I'd also like to see some action with Duke in the slot matched up on a LB. He'd abuse a LB trying to cover him. Maybe throw him in the slot with Yearby in the backfield so there's still a run threat.

What are you guys hoping to see this season from the offense?

Slot guys are allowed to run vertical routes.

I'd like to see more 4 WR single RB sets. put as many playmakers on the field as possible and put them in space where they can be successful.

Agreed. Get Johnson, Dorsett, Lewis/Scott, Coley, Gray/Berrios etc on the field at the same time and see which part of the coverage struggles first

I'd like to see a QB other than a bad backup who couldn't replace an awful and fake injured Morris, or a short, slow, fat QB, drummed out of two bad programs because he is awful, 23 year old dud, other than the latest KW (Olsen).

Guess that means Kaaya.

I don't want 2014 to be another excuse season. The Coastal may be average soon, and seeing as how we couldn't compete in it when it was the WORST division of any BCS conference, the last three years, we will get blown out if one or more Coastal teams are average in a BCS standard.

Kaaya. Golden has forfeited this season, so let's see if we have any QB for 2015. (He knows that too, which is why Kaaya doesn't see the field in 2014)

Ehhh, I don't know about all that. Slot guys run alot of vertical routes. In the smash concept they run the post-corner, one-on-one against the Safety. They run posts, verticals, etc. A fast guy in the slot is a huge mismatch.

No TE's.

Waters, Coley, Dorsett, (insert 4th WR) and Duke.

That's like a ****in' track team.

A TE? For what? If you have mediocre TE's then you might as well not use one at all. You're just making things easier on a DC.
Secondly, you're taking a stud WR off the field so you can use a mediocre TE. Sorry, I'm not a fan of Waters/Coley/Dorsett sitting on the sidelines so Walford can be on the field.

As a DC myself I would have nightmares trying to cover Waters, Coley, Dorsett and Scott all while stopping Duke from running the ball.

Maybe if Mike Leach was our coach. Why spread out 4 wide if you have a new or inexperienced QB and your best player is your RB? We don't have a FB so if we wanna run the ball the TEs need to come in. I'd rather see walford and maybe dobard and have the receivers cycle in as needed then try and run the ball with zero help.

Why do we need a TE to run the ball?

When Miami comes out in 4-wide, as a DC you have 2 choices:

1. Run Cover-2 or Quarters because you're frightened of our speed at WR.
2. Run Cover-3 and get an extra man in the box and stop the run cause you're scared of Duke.

If the defense puts an extra guy in the box, we throw. If they stay in 2-high Safeties then we run the ball.

It's not rocket science.

I don't know who lied and told you that you need a TE to run the ball. All a TE does is make the defense put more defenders in the box. When you go with 4 WR's you force the defense to take a man out of the box.
