What kind of defense should we be running?

One with much better players and more depth

That's what we need to be running...
 
We don't have the horses for any types of D you can imagine. Today, the LB's werent getting depth in their drops. The safety's played alot deeper than they should of. Besides CP, no one got consistent pressure against an average OL.

I've truly believe Golden would prefer to go down with D'Onofrio running his D. Soo since we aren't going to out-smart anyone, we need to out-athlete teams and we do not have the horses.

Its going to be a solid 2-3 years before we start dominating on D..

Im ok with a little more bump and run and blitz schemes that aren't obvious to the guy in the upper deck who is coming.
 
We should not have LBs (who don't excel in coverage, no less) routinely covering WRs.

We should not be playing 10 yards off or bail at the snap coverage when we get no consistent pass rush.

We should not be running stunts with a DL who can't execute it forcefully.

I don't know what that puts us in, butI'll take it.

We have way to many LBers in coverage. Do we have nickel packages cause we sit in 4-3 a ton even though the other team is spread out.

Our defense is not good to begin with. Our defensive coordinator is suspect to begin with. You take out our 3 best defensive players, 2 of them LBs and what do you expect? I expected UVA to do what they did.

Fwiw I think we should run more nickel in passing situations.

That said anyone saying Paul is covering a WR has no understanding of football.
 
Saban has LB's that are grown *** men. Dead Poets is an idiot. Don't listen to him. Besides, our LB's still can't figure out their drops. That's why the middle of the field is wide open between the LB's and the Safeties.


Bottom line, if Deon and Perryman aren't injured, we win. If Eddie Johnson isn't a selfish prick, we win.


Al Golden can't lose a TEAM if it isn't together as a TEAM. He is trying to build one because we are rebuilding.

10 games into the season, they still can't figure out their drops, yet the coaches insist on going to it on 3rd downs?
And I'm the idiot?

I coached hoops and if a team was knocking down 3 after 3 on me, while in a 2-3 zone, I **** sure wouldn't play it the entire game (and on final play of game)
