Did they look better last year or is it just me? Haven't heard their name mentioned too often this year.. I know we'remuch improved against the run, but they have not made many plays on the backfield..We need them to make some plays in the backfield Saturday!!

J. Renfrow has taken C. Porter's spot

L. Robinson has taken O. Pierre's spot

none of them are getting pushed back to the safeties anymore so i think we're good in the middle.

Can't run on them at all this year. Making our LBs look better than they actually are.

Pierre has been 10 times as stout this year as last year. And Robinson has been insanely improved as well and actually does things other than make a play in the backfield once and a while and then completely get out of position the rest of the time.

Porter doesn't look overly comfortable as a 3-4 nose, seemed much better shaded last year. Him and Renfrow have performed very well at nose as run defenders though.

Making plays in the backfield isn't how this defense works, not for the DL anyway.

Sometimes its not about the stats. These guys might not make the tackle, but they have been influential enough that our defense can play well. I'm not saying these guys are superstars, but its the concept of a shutdown corner. If a cb is so good, the qb will not throw there and limits what he can do. If these guys influence the play enough, they might put the RB or OL in a bad situation that opens the opportunity for someone else to make the play.

This basically sums it up IMO.

its not all about stats because vince wilfork doesnt put up great stats but still maks a huge impact and pro bowls.

We judge these guys by how often we are getting gashed up the middle. Which so far aint been often. We have been gashed on the outside more then inside. These 3 along with Renfrow are gonna force FSU to the outside. Now whether we have the speed at LB to get there is another story.

Maybe it's because I got my head down jotting down notes during the games, but I haven't noticed Pierre since the UF game.

Not only speed, but need to tackle much better than WF or UNC

For as much ***** as Shayon gets around here, he's far and away the tackles leader on the DL. Only Denzel and Gaines have more tackles on the team.

One of the best run ads in the country so far and it starts up front with the big uglies

Unsung heroes...

My opinion, the DT's are eating up the blockers this year and the linebackers are making the plays. This is how this defense is suppose to work I believe and they are doing a much better job of it this year.

I have heard Pierre and Porter's name called quite a bit this year. I have also seen Porter getting some push and disrupting the pocket. Far more than any of our D-line last year did.
