And not to pile on but jaden came up to “fill” on several occasions, and his feet just got rooted in quicksand

Jaden biggest problem is he's not very coordinated. His lateral movements are trash. If all plays developed under earth in front of him Jaden is a headhunter. When things aren't that transparent we were just ****ed.

I'd take a Portal LB1 and have Wes and Alderman portal out... One of my bigger criticisms of Mario continues to be who he chooses to play. Idgaf if it is actually other coaches choosing the snap counts he's ultimately at the top and decides. If Wes returns and continues being average he will start the whole season. There is no way he is getting benched. Same with Popo, he was average hopefully CAN be good, but if it turns out he isn't i have little confidence he won't continue to play anyways. Like Chase ******* Smith?!? ... Too bad Bobby had what looks like a major knee injury, but I want to mostly see Pruitt, Wiley, see whether Popo steps up, see if Hayes is good... Etc. I'd want one stud LB to be added, but man I just don't trust that if Wes is here and not playing well he doesn't just continue to start no matter what. Plus Wes more than just about anyone last two years has seemed like he never knows his assignments pre-snap...

Hopefully new DC cuts out the bs and just gets our Labs to play fundamentally sound and doesn't reward guys for not knowing plays and ****.

Which is why I'm convinced the vast majority of the failures on defense were due to coaching. I'm not saying we had playoff level talent across the defense. But all we needed was mid-ACC level and we'd have won every **** regular season game plus the ACCCG. And every starter except Hill was athletic enough to play mid-ACC level.

Wes will be just fine with better DC game calling / oversight and LB coaching / development. Mad Eyed Moody will fix his issue. But we do really need that Alpha from the portal (ideally a MLB but I'll take any legit LB1) to lead by example.
