Weekend Visits

Even in Randy's good class, we have failed to land the top Dade player(s). In 08, it was Patrick Johnson/Peterson. Yeah, we landed Brandon Harris and Marcus Forston and Aldarius, but Peterson was that "next level" player. Didn't get him. We landed Lamar Miller in 09, but he's not quite that elite of the elite type of recruit nationally. In 10, we pretty much swung and missed or were never in the game for the top locals. In 11, again, we missed out on the local ballers.

Now, in 2012, we aren't going to land Tracy Howard, but we are going to land Duke Johnson. That's a big, important get. Now, if we can start winning football games, then maybe the rest of the high end local ballers will stay local. We'll see, but Duke is a big time get.

Offensively: Duke Johnson

Defensively: Eddie Goldman and Deon Bush/Tracy Howard.

From what everyone is saying though our chances with Howard and Goldman are not very good.

1.Duke
2.Dewey
3.Kirby

I'd Say Duke... Hands down..
then..
ALJ (if he gets in) for his ability to play anywhere..especially Corner
Kirby - Impact and playmaker on D
Dewey - Would give our future a much better outlook but he ain't gonna play until maybe a year or 2. If he plays Next year.. we're in trouble..

JC

QB is without a doubt the most important, I just don't know if the 3 we are signing are program makers. If one of these QBs are big time, the program will rebound in a big way.
Based on high school performance it has to be Duke assuming he can provide the quick score from anywhere on the field.

Dewey (the QB's) and it's not close. Every year good QB's make average teams look better than they are (Stanford, USC, UFag with Tebow, McCoy at UT etc...). QB's dominate college football. When teams are scared to throw extra people in the box for fear that they are going to get shredded through the air it opens everything up.

Every recruit is important whether it's keeping the top talent home or being able to go into someone else's backyard to steal a national kid. Quarterback is also a huge position of need and above average to good QB's can turn an average/good team into a great team.

Goldman hands down would mean the most to this team right now. Defense win championships. You build defenses around DT's.

Duke.

We need a kid that can make a play on his own. That's what we have been lacking.

This.

If we're talking about uncommitted kids that we have targeted then I would say Goldman or Tracy Howard (neither of whom I feel good about), but for the recruiting class as a whole, and really for the future of SoFla recruiting, Duke is the most important recruit without question. You've all seen the highlights. The kid is The Truth.

Dont get me wrong, I get excited around this type of the year for the different prospects we host. However when looking at the numbers, the reality is that we will only flip/sell a small handful.

It's Duke. If he got away it would essentially sink our local advantage from here on out. There are key recruits every few years, and he's about as big and important as it gets. He's a lightening rod type kid that will attract other kids, not just now, but in the future.
Well stated Bomb.........

Yeah.

The very idea.

Simmering down -the very concept - just pukes me out.

I want 'em.

I want 'em all.

I want 'em all now.

This is what I have so far feel free to update/change this list..

WR/PR/KR DeJoshua Johnson 5'11 155lbs - Arizona Western Community College
TE Aaron Boesch 6'5 235lbs - Santa Monica College
DB Deon Bush 6'1 176lbs - Miami Columbus
CB Travell Dixon 6'2 200lbs - Eastern Arizona College
WR Rayshawn Jenkins 6'1 190lbs - Admiral Farragut Academy
WR Robert Lockhart 6'2 180lbs - Fork Union Military Academy

*Notes*
DeJoshua Johnson
- no offer but would commit on the spot if UM was interested. Johnson could be dangerous on special teams.
Aaron Boesch - no offer yet, but don't be surprised if he leaves with one. Boesch is a JUCO target that would be eligible to play 3 years at UM.
Travell Dixon - UM not a strong contender but worth watching as Dixon is from the Miami area originally, playing his prep ball Norland.

Dixon and Bush are the important guys....gotta have one of them.

Not a big fan of Johnson. He is still rail thin, and doesn't have elite speed (although decent enough).
