We obviously didn't play last week, so our raw numbers will not change, but our national rankings did due to many other teams playing tough games, and numbers continuing to normalize as more competitive games are played.
As always, these numbers only reflect FBS vs FBS competition.
Offense:
Yards per play: 1st (8.23 YPP) -- Some context: Navy nipping at our heels at 8.22, but over a half a yard ahead of the #3 team (Army -- 7.68)

Passing yards per game: 1st (415.2 YPG) -- Some context: We are SIXTY yards better than the #2 team (Syracuse - 355.0)

TFLs allowed per game: 14th (3.8 per game)

Turnover margin: 55th (+0.20 per game -- 7 takeaways, 6 giveaways) -- Not many good teams this poor here. 7 takeaways in 6 games is not good.
Time of possession: 7th (34:01 per game)
Number of offensive plays: (Avg 71.8 plays per game)
Takeaways:
Obviously not a ton to add here since we didn't play. But I just wanted to highlight we now have the highest scoring offense in the country, we are averaging the most passing yards per game in the country, and we are averaging the most yards per play in the country. Not much else needs to be said. That side of the ball is playing on God mode right now. On defense, the numbers nationally actually improved a bit as other teams played competitive games. There isn't anything we're even below average in except massive explosive plays. And the "shorter" explosives aren't even bad. Only 59 10+ yard plays allowed in 5 games. Only 19 20+ yard plays. Those aren't horrible. But where is gets bad is WAY too many of these plays are going for HUGE yardage. We've only allowed 7 plays of 30+ yards, but ALL SEVEN of those have gone for 50+. So we're not getting teams getting majorly loose, but when we do, they're absolutely gutting us. This has to change.
Overall, these are the numbers of a Top 5 team. The #1 offense and the #30 defense in yards per play. The #1 offense and the #32 defense in points scored/allowed. That's good enough to win championships. HOWEVER....big caveat here. The first 3 FBS games vs non-conference teams are playing a HUGE role here. If you look at ONLY ACC vs ACC games, Miami is dead last in yards per play allowed. 17th out of 17. We have allowed 6.64 YPP in our 2 conference games. That's awful, and if you averaged 6.64 for an entire season, you'd be well into the 100s. So, the first 3 games were very good. The last 2, not so much. It's time to turn this **** around in conference play. Louisville is 16th nationally in offensive yards per play. Saturday will be a challenge.
Go Canes.
