Richt started getting much better down the stretch of the season. I think the guy was just rusty from not calling plays in 10 years.

I think our O-line sucked. I think our QB didn't play well during long stretches. I think our receivers dropped balls, had too many unnecessary penalties, and fell down, unassisted at inopportune moments. I think our S (who shall remain nameless) could have picked up a fumble. I think Richt didn't max-protect early enough and had to figure Kaaya out. I think our kicker had mental lapses.

Richt will be fine with his players to run the style of offense he likes. He was the least of our problems this season.

I've expressed my concern with Richt as play designer and caller. I think the most successful coaches surround themselves with coaches that are better than themselves. Richt won't make this move because he's grooming his son as a QB/OC, nepotism, and wants to coddle him himself. If nothing else he should consult a guy like Wilson to add a modern element to his ol school attack and increase the pace.

Except for OL talent those are all fixable issues, so we should be real good next year. I'll say that, barring catastrophic injury, we win at least 10 games or the staff has failed us. I know some won't see 10 wins as "real good", but it is. It's not the ceiling, it's not enough for long, but it puts you near the top of college football (top10 right now).

So while I'd like to see an OC, I don't think it's necessary at this point.

He's already got that guy in place in Sotkisian. Saban has a bunch of former HCs and FBS assistant coaches as support staff. We have interns no one has ever heard of. We need to get more aggressive to compete with the big boys. Otherwise, we're just spinning our wheels.

That's just as important as keeping the 5 star recruits home. This offensive coaching staff is made up of bandaids and bubble gum when compared to the powerhouses in CFB. Hope Richt doesn't prioritize loyalty over ball games like Gordlen and isn't afraid to cut and replace someone if it makes this team better.
