Add me to the "let's see who Mario hires as coordinators" list before I make any kinds of predictions on Miami's improvement.
There's no doubt about it, hiring Mario Cristobal is a huge improvement and the amount of money being thrown around by our athletic department is a huge plus but we're going to get Oregon results if we hire an Oregon staff. Mario's strength is talent acquisition. He'll likely be able to get Miami top10 recruiting classes or better on a consistent basis but it's going to take a few years of recruiting to get Miami to the level where they can just out talent most teams and even then, they'll likely struggle when matched up against the top programs. It's imperative that Mario brings in the right X and O guys to run the offense and defense. If he does that, they're playing for the ACC title as soon as next season. If he makes "meh" hires like he did at Oregon, we're looking at mild improvement in the short term with the hope that we can eventually just out talent opponents in the future. I know that's not what a lot of people want to hear but it's true.
