We have maybe 3 guys who can start on Texas or Georgia defense

Exactly I don't see guys confused to line up every other play..
Right. Like our defense looked slow as **** by the end of the year. Nothing like what they looked like before things started to fall apart (USF). They may not win any 4x100 relays but I don't think they're as slow as they looked.Guys just had no idea where to lineup, what to do, and didn't communicate.

True. Not seeing too many of these guys start on our OL or in our backfield, either. And none have a WR as good as X.

This was the most open year I’ve seen in a very very long time. Neither of these teams are that great. Had we not had the worst defense in UM history we could have hung with any of them.
Both those teams would have obliterated us.

Watching Texas v Ga game illustrates how far behind defensively we are as a roster. Speed and size not even comparable on that side of ball. Mario has a ton of work to do.
I mean he's only had 3 years, what do you expect from an $8 million/year coach?

Corey Flagg starts in the SEC and put up career numbers. Weird, huh?

He did pretty much the same for Miami as a starter.

2024- 34 Solo Tackle, 1 sack, 1 Fumble recovered, 1 int with an 80 yard run.
2021 - 35 Solo Tackles, 3 sacks, 1 int with a 9 yard return.

Unfortunately to that point, 2021 was with Manny. He played less under Steele/Guidry

WHO TF CARES?!!! We don’t play in heir conference!! We JUST simply need to beat less talented teams in our conference!! That’s it!! We would be in the ACCG and playoffs, PERIOD!!
I care. I care that the University of Miami has a defense that looks like the teams playing today.

There was a time before you were probably born, but we used to field a defense in the big east that consistently had nfl starters. I’m not asking for that anymore, but the standard can’t be a defense that should only be good enough to match middle of the pack ACC teams.

The whole "such and such player on Miami wouldn't start at OSU, Texas, UGA, Bama" is such a bad faith argument in my opinion. A good number of these kids that Mario has recruited were also recruited by the likes of Texas, Bama, UGA, Ohio St etc. Clearly these kids were talented and had enough potential to be offered by the powers. Not saying they would all be All Americans/impact players had they gone elsewhere, but at the very least, the talent and potential was there. Coaching and development matters.

Agreed. The big difference I noticed was how many of the guys Georgia/Texas/Clemson brought in the last 2 cycles were already out there making plays. Especially on defense. We gotta play our young guys

Ok and how many of their players would start on our O? You can combine both teams and still get less than 3.

A bunch ...I think Ward, Francis and Arroyo are the only players on our offense that starts at Texas. Maybe rivers at one of the gaurd spots

Both these teams are more talented than we are on defense, but I don't think the talent differential is as great as you think. Difference is both these teams know and generally execute their assignments on each play. So guys are in position to make splash plays.
It's a yawning chasm of a differential right now.
