We back . . . 2000 version

Great memories. Notice how we used the TE & Davenport over the middle so effectively. 2013 is redux!

2013 is a whole new team and shouldn't draw comparisons from the dominant teams from the early 2000s.

It will pave it's own path.

I could never adequately describe to someone else the joy in my heart when Shockey caught that touchdown.

Meh - the Va Tech win that year was more important

If we lose to Va Tech, no sugar bowl, & hence no victory over UF, which was more significant than both

To this day any FSU player or fan will tell you that game turned out to be not that big of a loss considering they still got picked over us. & if u wanna cry foul over being passed up, what would u say to a washington fan?

Beating a conference nemesis who was undefeated & ranked #2 was bigger.

Plus even if FSU made that field goal it wouldve only forced OT
So i never understood the drama with the kick

But the Va Tech game was a total beat down that embarrassd them

More significant & proved we were "back"

i didn't see where he was making comparisons to this team. we haven't had a defining game like this yet.

this was significant b/c it's our in state rival and we had lost 5 in a row.

This. It was a bajillion times more important than any other game the last 15 years besides the Nebraska win, IMO. The gorilla that was FSU's owning of us the previous however many years was dead and the nation knew we were for real. Miami was no longer the "let's hope they can bring it back" school, it was now the "we're back, hop on or get left off" school.

We had a sophomore quarterback drive 80 yards in 56 seconds against the number 1 team in the Country. We were back. From then on you believed that Dorsey could put us in a position to win any game. Coming off an 8-4 prior season, we knew from that game on we were elite.

^ in-state rival, 5 in a row, top-ranked, undefeated, defending National Champs. Doesn't get any bigger than that.

what peachy said, at that point, no one was sure if we could beat fsu or if we were for real.

I could never adequately describe to someone else the joy in my heart when Shockey caught that touchdown.

I was laying above the west end zone in the floor of the orange bowl (section x) wrapped in a bear hug with strangers but brothers at the same time, letting man tears flow like a little girl. simply unbelievable

I was looking more from a historical perspective

At the time, yes, it was HUGE

But so was beating UCLA in 98

But beatin va tech who also had beaten us 4 straight includin a blowout the year before

This. This. This. I watched this game at a freakin restaurant because for some reason it wasn't on my local cable channel. IIRC, they were showing LSU/UF (which ended up being a blowout) locally in Auburn. I went to a local watering hole, met a buddy of mine that actually had a friend with him that was from St. Thomas Aquinas (can't remember his name) and we watched it together. I think my scream measured on the richter scale when Shockey caught that TD. I've never cried during a victory, but that's about as close as I've ever come to doing so. That game meant SO much on SO many different levels.

I was with my 80 year old father, sweating, dizzy and we hugged the biggest hug we ever done hugged when shockey raised both hands up with the ball.
