Walter Tucker

bad timing to do this. the past 2 games would have been an excellent opportunity for him to get some pt

It isn't bad timing. If he can play he can play. He won't be put in a position to negatively affect the team.

As far as the idea of redshirting goes, I think we are in more of a "win now" mode than a "sacrifice now to build for the future" mode. My take is that the staff thinks Tucker can help us now.

Exactly. If he can contribute immediately (which he will) then you play him. Another AG find. BOSS

It'll be interesting to track Tucker's career because the physical development called for him as a FB and that called for him as a competitive collegiate hurdler are very different. He can and should get up to around 240 and he can be a nice short yardage wrecking ball with some athleticism (I don't like his running style as much as Edwards as a real RB, but in his HS tape he showed a propensity to hit top speed fast and fire straight ahead - perfect for a FB). But, if he really is serious about track he will likely try to avoid putting on too much weight.

With Gus killing it as our big back, I think they would want to keep his redshirt going. I'd love to Mo get a few more carries in short yardage situations.

yeah he is what 0-7 inside the 5 yard line. dude is not a good short yardage back right now

To be honest he did get in twice, especially on first down against SFLA. Why no review I have no clue.

**** Im still waiting for this staff to unleash Mo Haggens.

IMO big Mo should be getting 3-5 touches a game and not just on a straight dive play. Give it to the big fella off tackle a few times a game.

I love Mo. Would like to see him get some shots in the red zone.

Other coaches want this kid playing on ST's and in a reserve role. They have supposedly been raving about his ability.

Crawford looks like a very good short yardage back. There's some misconception that big guys are good short yardage backs. Reality is that quick guys who find creases are often as good or better. See Tomlinson. What kills short yardage is penetration and big guys are most affected by penetration because they are usually slow starters.

These coaches have shown a willingness to play guys who can help them even if only in ST. If they aren't playing this guy, they don't need him. If he proves helpful, they'll play him although that looks for now like it'd be in ST since their current fullback doesnt even play a ton.
