-Last year 19 TE were invited to the NFL combine.
-16 TE were drafted
-6 were drafted in the first 3 rounds (Tyler Eifert , Zach Ertz, Gavin Escobar, Vance McDonald, Travis Kelce, Jordan Reed)
-6 of the first 8 TE taken were rJRs including the first 3.
Size:
Clive has the physical measurements of a solid NFL TE at 6’4 and 259. However, his body fat increased from 15.8 to 19.2, and he's put on close to 10 pounds prior to the 2013 season. Asante Cleveland reduced his body fat from 14.9 percent to a trim 11 percent at 6’5” 260.
Strength:
Clive did 24 reps of 225 at the U last year. This would have put him at #2 at last year’s NFL combine behind McDonald who had 31 reps.
Speed:
If Clive can still run a 4.6 like he claimed in HS and his freshmen year at the U, then he would have been the second fastest TE in the draft. Eifert, the fastest of the first 8 TE selected ran a 4.68. He does not look like a 4.6 guy on film.
Stats:
His numbers dropped a little from 2012 to 2013 although he started more games. He had 5 more catches in 2013 and started 6 more games, but, he had 79 less yards and 2 less TD while averaging 5.6 yards less per catch in 2013. Some of this is due to Morris’s drop in production and not checking down as much to the TEs. His number could go up next year with a better game manager in Williams.

I think if Clive declares for the NFL draft and trains hard for the next couple of month, he could work his way into the first 3 rounds of the drafts. He will need to run in the 4.6 range as before and show that he can be a good receiving TE with a good frame and athletic ability. I would like to see him stay one more year and help us get to the ACCCG but I’m not sure that will happen. Either way I wish him the best of luck and am happy that he made the most of his opportunity at the U.
People tend to forget that he played basketball in high school and only played football during his senior year. He came to the U as a 6’4 220 freshman project who could not bench 225 lbs. He has worked hard and came a long way from where he started. We got more production out of him than most people expected. He had a son in August and graduated in December. I have no problem with him trying to figure out what is best for him and his family.
