I think this guy can be special here. Needs a little coaching up but he looks to have all the necessary tools. This is the mold of QB we need to be successful. Get at least one of these guys every couple years and you give yourself a chance to really make some noise.

I've always felt he best compares to Teddy. I also would like to see him against better competition. They have Lake Gibson this week that's gonna be a step up from what he's faced all year.
 
Agree with all the above comments, I've been starting to get really excited about him coming with Kaaya's recent struggles (specifically lack of mobility). Every year it is so frustrating to get beat by mobile qb's and never have one of our own.

I think it's also rare to see the athleticism he has to be able to extend the play once the pocket breaks down, combined with the awareness to still initially look to pass after doing so, before deciding to tuck and run. Running qb's often stunt their growth as a passer by running too often, even when it is effective. A running qb who only runs when he has to is rare and even more dangerous.
 
Film looks good.

I will get negged for saying this, but one thing he will need to work on is staring down the receiver.

Lol at Kaaya being able to beat him out for the starting job regardless...

Kaaya is going to be 3rd on the bench next year behind Perry and Allison.

What's the thinking with Allison v Perry ? Allison is pro style, so is he the Wrong type of QB for Richt or is he a baller? I don't see either of these guys wanting to sit for 2-3 years before starting so it really is one or the other.

Thinking is the newer guy is always better. Perry is newer. On top of that, everyone wants a mobile QB because they hate Kaaya.
 
Anyone know how fast he is, or at least what he tests in the 40? I don't think it really matters, but I'm interested to know.

Seems more athletic than fast, like DMoney mentioned, which will get the job done.

He ran a 4.86, but he looks faster than that. DeShaun Watson ran a 4.89 in high school, but clearly plays faster than that.

Some guys are fast in pads. Lamar Jackson ran like an 11.4/100 in high school, and he's blazing fast. Running/training for track is different.
 
Honest question, does Perry really need a year in the weight room? Lamar Jackson has the same build and Perry just might look thinner because of his height. Maybe the OL gets him absolutely murdered but I think we just need a change because if not, next year will be the same if not worse...

The problem has and always will be with Jack, until proven otherwise, he put up ****** stats in high school. Add to that, this three game highlight footage is better than all of Jack's highlights put together. His highlight film is pedestrian as well and I broke down the first 10 plays of it last year demonstrating why it wasn't anything special. Supposedly he's better in camps and in that regard, so was Kirby Freeman.

Everyone is different, so the real answer is who knows.

Dorsey was a spindly little thing when he took the reigns. Kaaya isn't physically imposing and was a stock early on. FSU's QB, he should be dead after the hits he takes week after week.

So basically, nobody knows the answer to that until he gets here. Personal toughness isn't something you can measure by looking at highlights.

As you mentioned, Jackson is a fair example. The thing with him is that you very rarely get a clean shot on his slippery ***. If he was getting clobbered like BK or Francois, maybe he wouldn't be able to hold up.....so who knows.

Doesn't need to be a blazer, just needs good pocket presence and if the pocket collapses, needs to know when to pull it down and run for 7 yards.
 
I wasn't that impressed, he is more of an athlete than a QB. The fact that he can move is good with the state of o-line. People who think he beats out Kaaya are nuts. I don't think he beats Allison for the job. Allison is your prototypical pocket passer that Richt likes. I thought he stared down receivers and forced some balls that would be picked by better players. He needs a redshirt year before even sniffing playing time. Just my opinion.
