Let me repeat, if a recruit meets NCAA academic minimums Miami can waive their higher requirements such as two foreign languages etc. the person do to that is the Provost, Tom LeBlanc. If Al Golden believes a recruit is essential and he doesn't abuse the system he should get a recruit in.
 
if Al misses TV then he is dead to me. You can't lose Valentine, Cook, Powell, Lane, Rudolph, Dixon, K.Clark, Sony and Treon in a given cycle. That would be coming off losing almost everyone who was anyone in the tri-county area the year before. Its nice that we have Chad and Kc, but these are the guys that would be Canes if I were the head coach. James Coley is the only reason Yearby is a Cane. If Golden can't keep more guys home , then he needs to find a new home himself.

I don't entirely disagree, but some of those comments are a bit much. You say that Chad and Kc would be Canes if you were the coach, but you might have said the same thing about Sony or Valentine, for example, if they had been solid commits throughout. You say that Yearby only is a Cane because of Coley (which probably is true), but I wonder whether Cook would be a Cane if it wasn't for Yearby [and whether Lane would have followed Cook here too-- :) ]. Besides, how many people say that the only reason Jimbo has Winston is because of Dameyune Craig?

I'm just not up for criticizing on the one hand and refusing to give any credit on the other.

By the way, I'm good getting Yearby before Cook. I don't want the above to be interpreted differently.

fair enough. Chad seems to be a guy that just wanted to stay home no matter what, but I am speculating there. Kc and Darling didn't care if Golden left, they both said they were coming regardless. Darling said it didn't matter who the coach was and that he was a Cane no matter what. Either way, the point remains. He needs to have more success and keeping homegrown talent home. If the trend doesn't change, then he won't be here much longer
 
It's not like Golden has produced with the talent he has had. You can say it isn't much, but it's more than VT and Duke have.

IMO, he needed multiple top five classes just to maintain that third place position in the Coastal.

Wow ok Duke is a rare team and you can say that about many other schools that have more talent then Duke but dont produce. If the defense can get it together UM should be fine

Any ****head that discusses scheme, some **** about our defense, or lack there of in a Valentine thread should be banded from the recruiting board till after signing day!

**** bro.. so you're telling me if you were coaching that you would land every player you wanted and no schools would be even remotely able to recruit kids you wanted?? well why aren't you coaching then man?? you should apply at the next job that opens up and with your recruiting capabilities you'll be able to turn any scool into a national title contender in a mere 3 years..

All these Don Baily Jr wanna-be Golden slurpers can attempt to spin it any way they want...

But unless something drastic happens down the stretch this recruiting class is a disappointment. Plain and Simple.

So for those keeping track at home....the guy that already isn't a great gameday coach and has either one of the worst DC's in college football (or one of the worst schemes, take your pick) isn't killing it in recruiting, which is where he's suppose to excel.

yea that's exactly what I said :rolleyes: . There are some guys that are just Canes and it doesn't matter who the coach is (i.e. Duke, Chickillo, Kc, Darling). I'm merely pointing out that ANYONE that coaches the U is going to bring in at least some top talent just on name of the program and proximity. In order to win here you need to do better than that. You must convince a majority of your homegrown talent to stay home and represent and Golden simply isn't doing it right now.

We couldn't outscheme or outplay Wake Forest, it took a terrible UNC team to quit at the end, we were no better than Virginia or Pitt, just got the breaks, and got blown out by teams that never saw a top 15 recruiting class (VT and Duke).

As I said, MAYBE two or three back to back top five classes and we could compete in the Coastal with Golden. This top 15/20 class crap will wear out, we go 4-4 in the ACC next year at BEST!

Still a massive failure to lose all of them in one cycle.

And oh, the slurpers here will claim Al is some sort of genius for hiring Coley and therefore deserves the credit for Yearby and Kaaya.
