Vad Lee not starting?

Im thinking a freshman quarter back running that option defense is tough. I see alot of turnovers in the future on bad decisions and missed timed ball pitches. just my .02 especially if we can get in the backfeild and hurry them up.

I agree, I think that is why he wasn't starting to begin with. Vad has a terrible arm and is not that great of a runner IMO. I just think he knew the offense better then the redshirt freshman.

Listening to Atlanta sports radio this week they've mentioned that Vad is a better passer but not as good a runner as Thomas. They said to expect more of what GT has typically done when Thomas is in (I guess more option stuff as opposed to more passing and/or the diamond stuff).

Whatever.

We should be ready for either guy. And if we have our **** together, then we will take care of business, GT personnel be damned.

Its coming GT....

reading the tech message boards makes me think there's nothing to this. just that thomas will play a little.

zero ***cs given either way. Lee looks like garbage and the other guy has never thrown a pass or played any significant minutes

win win

Vad is the better passer. He just doesn't move as well as Thomas.

Prior to the season, Vad was getting a lot of hype about his passing. They were hoping to see Johnson add more throwing wrinkles into their offensive gameplan. They tried that in the VT debacle and it was a horrible failure. They will probably change these 2 guys out quite a bit throughout the game...at least that is what I'm expecting.

As earlier stated, I am hearing that Thomas is a better option QB. Whoever is in there, we do not change our game plan. Load the box, stop the dive, set the edge, nail the QB. Neither will be able to throw against us, but Thomas looks fast.

If Miami does what they're supposed to do, the QB should be hit on every play. He shouldn't have time or space to make somebody miss.

He looks fast, but that was garbage time against ELON who is 1-3 vs FCS schools. It will be interesting to see his speed against much better competition.

Surely this is just Johnson being premature?

He knows Vad is going to get knocked out of the game by Perryman, he's just made the announcement a little too soon.

I bet their backup is better than Vlad the self impaler.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (Posted: 6:19 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013)

Georgia Tech backup quarterback Justin Thomas will “more than likely” play in Saturday’s game against Miami, coach Paul Johnson said after Wednesday’s practice.

Earlier in the week, Johnson noted that Thomas had had a strong practice on Monday and would earn playing time if he continued it. Johnson said Wednesday that the quarterbacks “have been OK” since then.

Johnson also said that wide receiver DeAndre Smelter will also “more than likely” return punts and kickoffs, though Jemea Thomas is also a possibility. Coaches have also looked at Lynn Griffin and Dennis Andrews in the search for a replacement for Jamal Golden, who is scheduled to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery Thursday.

Miami will also MORE THEN LIKELY...beat the living snot out of GT...cant find source...just a gut feeling

Justin Thomas is probably a more dynamic athlete. He was committed to Bama earlier in the recruiting process (they prob wanted him at DB but told him they'd bring him in as a QB) and had some big time offers.

I would have to assume that the only reason he wasn't starting to begin with is because he doesn't know the offense as well as Vad. Vad did not look to good out there when the competition got better.

GT loved Vad because he was the best passer they've had there under Johnson. So, that should tell you something about Thomas because Vad is not a good passer. Thomas might be a better athlete, but that offense is a bytch to run perfectly, and new QBs always put the ball on the ground a lot in that system.

Well if that stuff about the arm is true, Thomas must throw worse than Jim Abbott's right arm.
