All Freshman team member

All Conference Tackle

Good by me
He got offered by FSU, Maryland, and Texas Tech. Some early stuff I found on him is that he is very athletic

Interesting FSU is still hitting the portal hard after all the good gems they found last year.

The portal is part of recruiting in the current era, why is it surprising that FSU is hitting it hard after being successful at it?

What will be interesting to me is whether Mario adapts to it. If he can recruit the portal, like he successfully recruits high school, then we are in excellent shape.

If he fails to adapt in this area, like he fails to adapt in other areas, we have BIG trouble ahead.

I saw in an interview with Bud Elliot that depending on the transfer portal is something they don't wanna be known for. Its just something they find themselves in right now.

It seems like everyone is trying to say that, but I’m not sure it makes total sense anymore…

Mario said something about it too, yet it is part of recruiting in 2022/2023… you must do both to some extent… like for Mario - you can’t say come pick up your kids, send 20 dudes to the portal and replace them all through high school while other teams get better faster and dominate you on the field..

Yeah it’s status quo now. Every year you cut the fat and bring in new talent from the portal.

On top of having to recruit your own talent so they don’t chase money and opportunities elsewhere.

You better be able to do both. It feels like going forward there is going to be a certain percentage of your recruiting class that will portal out. Gonna make it difficult to create depth in some areas. But ultimately this is what coaches, and to an extent the analysts and support staff are paid to do. Keep your eye on these areas and figure out how to manage your roster. There will always be the ones you don't anticipate leaving but when it happens, go be aggressive and find the talent to fill the hole.

Their recruiting classes haven’t been great though. And still not even recruiting that well with 9 wins

FSU had 1 really good 4 game stretch this year. But I’ll give them credit the past two years the Lsu, Louisville and Uf games would not have went their way and they got the bounces and stayed healthy.

But it’s a fine line they walked with 9-3 and 6-6. Which many thought they were this year…a 6-7 win team. Next year they are at Lsu, At Clemson, and at Uf. They will need to strike gold on the defensive side of the ball again to be able to repeat this season. This year has bought Norvell time and now they have to think “do we add years for recruiting”

Then look at us…what if a few plays go our way vs A&M and UNc. Now we are 7-5. Gattis offense isn’t any better but “look what we did in year one, wait til we make a few upgrades” This wasn’t the ideal way to go about things but assuming Gattis really is gone I’m glad we didn’t get fools gold with a 7-5/8-4 season, only to look worse next year.
