These are so much more fun to read when we win (though reading them when we lose is probably more important).
My point of frustration: What you didn't show was how many drops Pitt had. For the fourth week in a row we've won or lost on how each side performed in the last series of the game. No surprise we're 2-2 because every one of those games was a true toss-up. I know we missed a FG to lose to Virginia, but we would be 6-2 if our defense wasn't so porous.
The Good:
We are a transformed offense with everyone except Donaldson and Mallory fully clicking. I want to see more Arroyo and while I totally get why Justice doesn't want to mess with a good thing, we need to find a way to sub in for Donaldson.
The sky is the limit for Lashlee's unit. Agree he needs to stop playing not to lose. Cost us UVA and almost cost us Pitt. He trusts hsi players 95% of the game then goes into safe mode which makes no sense.
Meanwhile, those young defenders have entirely changed the nature of our defense. With Harvey finally taking a step, and DJ and McCloud serviceable, we're also getting more pressure up front. Definitely missed Nesta. But that DL is also significantly better than where we started, as is the S spot. Steed and Keontra are making a big difference in the middle, as well.
The Bad:
Unfortunately, our CBs are a mess other than Stevenson. I personally want to try Tae there, think he could be very physical and disruptive at the line and in man, provided the cover cheats his way against fast and shiftty guys. Also, there's zero excuse not to run Chase and TAC given the issues we're still facing in the midfield. Finally, please fire Patke. I'm so tired of ST mental errors that are just plain fundamentals.
This team should/needs to go 8-4 with a bowl win. It's the best in the ACC, just needs proper use of personnel and decent coaching.
