Up to #11 in AP, up to #10 in the Coaches poll

I hate the “no reason to complain, the polls will work themselves out” crowd. Nobody who has watched these teams thinks Bama, Oregon, or Penn State are better football teams than Miami but we have to put a higher number next to their name because of preconceived notions? So dumb.

Our University of Miami Hurricanes just need to "control the controllable":

Win the games on their schedule and be in driver's seat (for once) of their destiny.

Other teams are going to contribute to our University of Miami Hurricanes' rankings just by them not controlling their controllable--e.g. losing games on their schedule.

It has become so much more simple really in the era of expanded playoffs.

One of my favorite football quotes of all time, “Just win baby!”

What Al Davis said.

Beat USF convincingly at their house after they gave BAMA problems and people will start to notice. Sets us up nicely for the mid season stretch run.
USF and VT and important milemarkers.

Doom and gloom atmospherics from Hurricanes' Horror Story would have assured Ls in one or both.

it really doesn't matter if we take care of business - but still fun to speculate

won't be much movement in the next 2 weeks, we *should* win our next two games - Ball State and USF (that might be tougher than we though)

oregon's (#9) next 2 games:
@oregon state (should be a W)
@UCLA (should be a W)

Penn State's (#8) next 2 games:
home vs kent state (should be a W)
home vs Illinois (might be dicey)

Tennessee's (#7) next 2 games
home vs kent state (W)
@ Oklahoma (15)

Missouri's (#6) next 2 games
home vs BC (might be dicey)
home vs Vanderbilt (might be dicey)

Ole Miss' (#5 next 2 games) - lol at non conference scheduling by ole miss

@wake forest (W)
home vs GA. Southern (W) --

Alabama's (#4) next 2 games:
@wisconsin (playing tvd - that's a W for bama)
home vs UGA (likely L)

Ohio State's (#3) next 2 games:
Home vs Marshall (W)
@ Michigan State (W)

Texas' (#2) Next 2 games:

Home vs UTSA (W)
Home vs UL Monroe (W)

Georgia's (#1) next 2 games:

Home vs Kentucky (W - Kentucky is not the same Kentucky)
@ bama ( likely W)

considering our lack of quality opponents next 2 weeks, It's likely we'll stay at 10 or move up slightly to 9 if bama gets owned by UGA or someone else is upset

games to watch that could impact our movement:

tennessee / Oklahoma in 2 weeks
bama / UGA in 2 weeks
Penn state / Illinois - sneaky upset game IMO
Missouri vs BC next weekend

side note, bama, texas, ole miss, and tennesee (4 teams ranked ahead of us) all play Georgia this year

Tennessee is putting to the belt to Oklahoma’s *** in 2 weeks

Teams ahead of us, and their quality opponents in the next month.:

Georgia - Week 5 at Alabama
Texas
Ohio Taint
Alabama - Week 5 Georgia
Ole ****
Mizzou - Week 3 Boston College
Tennessee - Week 4 at Oklahomo
Pedo State
Oregon
Utah - Week 4 @OK-State, Week 5 Arizona
USC - Week 4 at Michigan

Soooo...unless TVD does something miraculous against Alabama this week, you can't really expect any movement in Week 3.

Week 4...maybe...Week 5, at least one ahead of us will lose...

But expect more of the same in Week 3.

Yes, but losing to UGA is way more acceptable than us losing to anyone else we have on our schedule.

We play a pretty weak schedule. If we can continue to take care of business and dominate we'll move up but I think that would top off around 4

Eventually, the SEC teams have to play other SEC teams.

That's when we can move up, assuming that we keep winning.

Someone brought up a really perverse incentive to 12/14/16 playoff format as presently organized...

You'd rather be the the team in say SEC/B1G that gets into playoff but didn't make your conference championship game only to lose that game due to how it shakes out for the bracket.
It’s been like this many years in the SEC.
For example, there have been years that it benefited Alabama to have one loss in the regular season and miss the SEC Championship game, because they then jumped the loser of that game and made it into the playoffs instead, as they ended up having only one loss instead of two. It’s super annoying.

More than likely there will be little to no movement the next couple of weeks.

However, did anyone really see Notre Dame losing to Northern Illinois?

True.

If someone gets knocked off in a huge upset, great.

But it's still unlikely.

Forget the rankings.

All 13 of these "experts" pick us to win the ACC, and finish with the #3 seed in the CFBPO's.

Tanking it a step further, the expert majority has us playing the winner of the KSU @Tennessee game in the Fiesta Bowl (with UGA going Peach, OSU Sugar and Utah Rose).

This is the part of the story where some of y’all need to realize that rankings mean very little anymore
BINGO!

Think college basketballl where rankings and conferences mean little. The only thing that matters is the tourney. Same thing here
