Unpopular Opinion

Get the 25 best players from across the country who want to be Canes, not settling for it. The majority will likely but don't have to be from South Florida.

The trolling and game playing has gotten out of control. Local recruiting needs a total reboot.

It's not one or the other. We'll get a lot of players from So Florida, a few more from the rest of the State. And a few more from out-of-state.

Pretty much the same as every year, with minor variation.

The 2020 class will have more of a National appeal than a Local or In-state appeal

thoughts?
It’s too early to know but I’d guess you are wrong. Manny wants to win locally, but he wants to win period. It’s easy to toss offers around and get national interest now, but those kids aint signing here without an OV. In the meantime, we will work on our relationships locally, and build on #TNM locally.

As of now, Rivals shows 9 commits for the class of 2020, and all of them are from Florida. 6 are traditional so fla and one is from Naples.

If we get some big fish from national waters, great.

idc where they're from as long as they can play. just don't waste time with the divas locally if theyre not ready to openly commit

It will never be less than 60% South Florida. Ever! But whatever it takes. The Divas will catch on when they see that they aren't getting any local love and we're winning without them.
I kinda like that. Local kids need to realize and appreciate an offer from #TheU

i never understood why people where these kids come from. if they can play, who cares what the percentage is. the local kids aren't more or less loyal whether the percentage is 99 percent or 10 percent. win and get the best kids from anywhere.

How about national kids? Should we quit recruiting them, too, unless they’re ready to commit? Or should we hold national kids to a lower standard than you want to hold local kids to?

Don’t have a preference if they’re from OOS or SFL, just find the best players that fit our program, and greatly wish to be Canes through and through. I don’t see that as having to be a certain percentage from SFL or OOS. Some years it may swing one area versus the other, just as long as they want to be part of the U Family.

nah just the local ones. make sure the divas are called out by anyone and everyone

Why? Who does Clemson have from South Florida? Trayvon Mullen was the difference between a good team and a national championship team?

Look, I'm all in favor of locking down SFL. And I'm not totally disagreeing with you. But what Ivins is saying is you can't let the best of the best get away if you're the hometown team. But it's silly to think you have to have SFL players to win. Miami has been filled with players from SFL for several years. Clemson beat them about 1500-3 the last 2 times they played. You can win recruiting players nationally. But you can't let Jerry Jeudy, Dalvin Cook, Calvin Ridley, etc etc etc I can go on for a half hour....you can't let ALL those kids go to your rivals.

"If you want to be a dominant Miami you have to get the best players from SFL yearly" isn't entirely true. You need to because they're regional kids. But if you recruit good players and you have good coaches, you can win with kids from anywhere. Clemson being example #1. They've got kids from GA, SC, NC, AL, MD and more, and they're kicking the **** out of everyone. Find good players. Coach those players. That's the blueprint.
I agree u need elite OOS talent but if we cant close in sfla what makes anyone think we will close on elite players OOS. We have to get both to be elite and OOS kids r harder to get then in state.

Again some of the best players to ever suit up for Miami were from outside of the holy grail of the "state of the Miami"

Sorry if you forget that talent exists outside of the state of Florida and the tri county
I agree but those kids dont come here anymore they go to big money programs

Too early to tell...But this Dade class is 3X as deep as 2019, and as deep as I've seen Dade in a few years.

UM needs to be heard from in Dade and all of Sofla this year, PLAIN AND SIMPLE...and are off to a good start with Chaney, Robinson(Palm Beach obv) Francois, Moise (Brow) , and Fleming.

we fuqed then if thats the case, u want to be a dominant Miami u have to get the best players from sfla yearly plain and simple. Just like Ivins said the coaching staff has to do that or they will have the same fate as the rest of them

They don't count...

The rest of the class will be 5-stars from OOS!

Lol, in all seriousness I want us to land as many great players from anywhere in the country where they may be.

What needs to stop happening is fans pushing a narrative about local recruits while simultaneously celebrating commits from local recruits. There's plenty of local kids that want to be here we just have to do a better job at convincing them Miami is the best place for them.

The ratio will most likely be 70/30 in state to OOS, too many people think it's going to be 60/40 OOS to in state & that'll never happen.

We'll go OOS in this class possibly at QB, one of the OL's, probably a LB & possibly a DB if we can snag Cavazos, other than that most of the players we get for 2020 will be from South Fla/Fla in general.

Problem with this is we get the plan B and C guys from SFL not the Plan A guys. Whats more sad is the non SFL kids that rep the U better than the SFL kids on the team

Win and they’ll come... all these south fla kids know is UM being mediocre over the last 17 years.. why would they just magically come
Here? Put a good product on the field and win. It’s not rocket science...

i liked how worked up you get over these kids. if theyre not in orange and green, DOOOONNNNNTTTTT CAAARRRREEEEE
Sounds like what every superfan has said every year we have stunk it up.

Not to mention, if you didnt care about kids who werent on the team, you wouldnt post on a recruiting board.

El, we might need to start shopping for some of those big tater-and-cornbread-eating linemen from the midwestern and northern territories.
