Uncle Luke's ramblings . . .

This **** was horrible. Dude is beyond reaching at this point.
Sounds like he's part of the butt hurt crew that still hasn't gotten over Randy's firing.

"Adding Lockette as UM's running backs coach would have given the Canes the inside track on all the top recruits in south Florida moving forward."

Didn't they say the same **** about Randy when he was hired? We'd have the inside track on inner city Miami kids?
Then white SEC coaches come here and proceed to loot SFL.
When are these dumbasses gonna learn.

stop feeding the troll ... He is about as relevant as I am to the U. End this thread. Stop interviewing him (why the **** did you do it to begin with?)

That is seriously one of the dumbest things I've read in my 33 years on this planet. He's the Iraqi Information Minister when the US bombs were going off behind him.

Two sophomores who graduated from Miami area high-schools left the team in January.

Is he talking about Finnie and Paul?! Haha! Forget that Paul is from Lakeland, those guys "left" the team after they were arrested for stealing laptops on campus.

I'll play devil's advocate here. As much as I can't stand Luke and believe that he's all about Luke, he is also about his community. He has given back and is putting in at least 1 resource, his time, into his community. He's in the inner city, and he has a voice that we reluctantly listen to but who other people actually pay attention to. Now, we can disagree with what he's saying and logically argue against him, but we've got to be able to distinguish between the importance of perception and reality. Perception is reality when you're not diving into details. I think Luke's the canary in the coal mine. I really do. Either Golden starts playing chess, or he's in deep **** which means that we, as a fan base, are fcked.

Golden should have offered Telly Lockette the RB coaching gig, and then used Coley and Telly to mend fences with Ice. It's not that he's beholden to Ice. It's that he needs to have broader support in the community and people vouching for him to the local players. My opinion is that if he doesn't fix this soon, we'll look at the Kirkland/ Thomas fiasco as the beginning of the end down the line in 1-2 years.

We really just missed on one kid from Dade. That's all. Just one kid. Has there been any real information on how Golden chose Brown over Lockette? Brown has the much stronger resume and maybe there was a commitment there that Golden need to stick with and reward.

the problem with your thinking is you thinking Ice and Lockett are the panacea of a falsely perceived Miami Inner city recruiting problem..
First of all there isn't one and second of all, they wouldn't make a difference in the grand scheme of things.
Miami's recruiting problems stems from the pending NCAA sanction decision. Had the Ncaa come out of their decision prior to signing day things would have turned out differently.
You can't go from what Al did last year to what happened this year and say that AL and his relationships with Miami HS coaches is now a problem. It's not. One season doesn't make it so.
He recruited the inner city kids hard this year but it just so happened the kids decided to go elsewhere for what ever reason. Although we know the NCAA sanctions was a major deciding factor.

Luke is just a local charlatan who's 15 minutes have come and gone long ago. His Newstime blog that is written by his wife is what keeps him in the news story circle.

We start winning and ice wont matter anymore, i think that's the bottom line.

Fellas, when Golden got this gig, he said that 80% of each class would be from SoFla- Dade/Broward/PBC. We're not even close with this class. Those were his words, and not mine. He completely botched Amari Cooper's recruitment by asking him to commit or be left out...before his senior season started. Golden mishandled Kirkland IMO. While he's much better off with most local coaches, there are others who are not as happy for whatever reason. This isn't to say Golden is at fault, but it is to say that it is what it is. Golden needs to repair the perception.

As for not having a problem with Ice, you're wrong. There is a rift with Ice. Either you see it or you don't. Ice didn't exactly try to steer Thomas to UM. This was a major FU to Golden with the best player to come out on the defensive side of the ball in years. They're not on good terms which is a problem when you're dealing with a guy who is considered the Godfather of HS in the inner city. Every kid there knows Ice from the moment they know anything about football. He is their father figure a lot of times and garners a great deal of respect because of his record on and off the field. So, it's in Golden's best interests to repair this relationship. Again, it's not because he's beholden to Ice, but rather because he's smart enough to know that it's a helluva lot easier to win on the recruiting field when you have HS coaches on your side.

Finally, I would agree with FastCane in that winning would take care of much of this, but having good relationships with guys like Harris makes winning a bit easier.

As for Luke, his BS pieces, in the New stinkin Times, get media replay fwiw. Local radio guys give him airtime, and nobody challenges him. Nobody outside of Zo Highsmith on effin Twitter. I think he's an illogical dude, but rather than get caught up in the details of what he's saying, I get more into the gist which is that Golden needs to do better in SoFla. Would anyone argue that? This class will be proof. He has an all-star lineup of recruiters. If he can't pull in an epic class this year, there's a major problem.

we win 10 games and the ACC and front runnin Luke will be all over Golden's *******.

Didn't I read somewhere that Lockette turned down the RB job?

what part of pending NCAA sanctions don't you understand? In your long drawn out rhetoric you failed to mention it even in the slightest implications. Like it doesn't even exist in the grand scheme of things.

And you got it backwards son, Golden doesn't need to appease to the likes of ICE. They need to appease to him. The "U" is larger than anyone HS school coach. Yes I acknowledge that the U was built on local recruiting, but as long as Golden continues to do what he is doing we'll get our normal share. SOme years more fruitful than others. But at anyone point the roster will be made up of 80% local kids. Which is what he said. Not what you said he said. He never said 80% of every class will be local kids. Cite your source where he said than and I'll gladly stand corrected.

You can put a hat on it, but it's still a jackazz.

I'm not dismissing the NCAA mess. I agree with you that it's a major issue. I disagree with you that there is "no" problem in SoFla. That's nonsense.

Look, you can play Checkers and stand and scream that Ice or any other local coach should be appeasing Golden, and you'll lose. That's not how the game is played. It's chess. It's being the puppet-master. The best understand how that game is played even when they're winning.

Help me out cause I'm failing to see the problem here when guys like the Edison coach, Lockett himself, Alonzo say there isn't any?

Are you basing this on Luke's word?
On the Kirkland fiasco? So one incident is supposed to undermine Golden all of a sudden?

Help me out.. what is it?

idk if this was posted or not but lukes twitter today was full of bs...he first went on about how we didnt hire a hs coach. well we went w an alum who has experience and is already familiar w UM (not to mention he can recruit). then he goes on bout how hes a real cane and were not (wonder what year he graduated from UM or where his seasons tickets are located). someone needs to tell this washed up moron, who is basically turning into the overtown idiot, that goldens been doing this his entire professional life, let the man do his thing and luke needs to stick w reinventing his rap career (he doesnt make MNW good no matter what he says). him and sillyho r poisons to the program
