UNC Recruiting

No, they don't. Look at the facts and use the top 10 in state recruits in each cycle. What was UNC doing before Mack?

2019 - his first year, pulled 2 of the top 10 in state.
2018 - 2 of 10
2017 - 4 of 10
2016 - 0 of 10
2015 - 2 of 10

We can go on, but the facts will remain the same. There is no argument UNC football "owns" the state in terms of recruiting. They absolutely have to fight oos schools for top in state recruits and they don't own the other in state schools. Over the time period above a) UNC never got the top in state recruit (he always went oos) and b) NC State got more top 10 in state kids. As another poster said, it really boils down to different programs at different times.

Again your basing it off of the bum that wasnt a recruiter that was there in the time period. Any time UNC has a coach worth a sh*t ...they'll likely land above 50 percent of the in state studs.

In comparison here at Miami we can be clicking and winning mnc's and we wont land 50 of the local studs let alone for the state.

I stayed in Raleigh of all places. lol

I was there when Chuck had it rolling...Use to party with Mario Williams and the like. It was alot of Florida boys at Ncstate at that time.
OT: I was living in Raleigh at the same time. Stayed in Hedingham and Wilders Grove.

Lol I had my share of good times down hillsborough! I was around that same time... so yeah you definitely know the in state scene! Gotta get the kids east of 95, Raleigh Fayetteville and Greensboro, get a few Mountain linemen and put a MAJOR EMPHASIS on Charlotte Meck. I think Mack gets it.

And yeah chuck was a genuis getting the top in state kids like Mario, Tank, Tony Baker, Andre Brown... and then using his Florida state days to get the 2 and 3 stars from Florida.

Yeah I was thinking he might have some gas left in the tank when he took that job. I’m not surprised. They have the best freshman QB ever. Got another one in the 20’ class and this kid for 21.

Setting himself up nicely.

The unc Miami game last year, despite the Kicking and defensive choak job on our part, was an amazing atmosphere to watch the game last year, too.

Between he and his staffs ability to coach and recruit, the fact that the majority of the state loves Unc and, even their underrated stadium atmosphere, it would be nice for another acc program besides Clemson and hypothetically us to be an annual top 15 program and raise the national stakes whenever we play them.

How many games have you been to in Kenan? It’s an awful atmosphere. Just bc they showed up to our game doesn’t mean anything. I’ve been to at least 20 there and it pales in comparison to Carter Finley even when they’re good. I went to three the year they won the coastal and fans still didn’t make much of an impact

Just got another in state 4 Star Wr in Paysour today. Between Howell, the underrated Criswell from last class, and now Maye, their passing attack is going to be up there for the next five years.

I know some people hate when we talk about other teams but I like to and think it's relevant, especially if they're in the ACC. UNC is building something under Mac. He's starting to lock down North Carolina. They just flipped the #6 qb and #56 overall player from Bama. They got a high 4 star DE yesterday. They're right behind Miami in the recruiting rankings now with fewer players and a much higher average (I know this will change some but still) of 88 for Miami and 92.5 for UNC. They've also signed two 5 stars in the last 2 years and there's time for more. I think it will be interesting to see how they look over the next few years.
But it takes wins they say.....win and they will come blah blah blah

It's all bs.....elite recruiters recruit dogs win or lose.

He finished ranked every single year except 3 when he was at Texas(and 2 of those years Manny was the DC so, no surprise they finished unranked). Finished top 5, 5 times. If he was terrible at evals and developing, he must have been one **** of an Xs and Os guy.
Manny must of told him he could recruit/evaluate and Mack found out he lied during the interview.

Lol I get your point, id argue app state as best football program. Also, add running back to your claim as far as elite talent. The state has had a top 5 back probably 8 of the last 10 years

But yeah man, you kinda alluded to the point I wanted to make. It’s about the coach, which is why you can’t say UNC is king of the state. Mack had his run in the 90s, when he left, Unc went down and Amato came from FSU and made N.C. state the premier program. Butch came at the end of chucks run and took the mantle, going head to head with O’Brien at N.C. state who didn’t have a clue.

Then came Fedora who was a TERRIBLE in state recruiter. Case in point, the high school I went to alone had 5 4 stars or better that all wanted to go to UNC (because they were basketball fans) Pharoah Cooper, Derell Scott, Michael Bowman, Kyran Bowman and the top prospect of his class Keion Joyner. Fedora botched their recruitment in the worst way, leading to all 5 going elsewhere, including the only one that did commit to him, Kyran Bowman, who only wanted to play basketball anyways and is now with the Warriors.

My point wasn’t necessarily that you’re wrong, but that it’s so wide open in that state that whenever a program gets a top notch coach, things can go real well in a hurry! You made the point yourself saying Mack Brown and Butch Davis had things going right. Those two are both elite recruiters and national champion level coaches. There’s very few programs in the nation that can say they had coaches like that. It takes those type of coaches to keep the few elite kids, like you said, in state, which was my point.

Where from N.C. did you live btw?
Good Post....but you can't put Mack Brown in the same sentence with Butch in ref to recruiting...

He probably also lied and said he has a great defensive scheme, that works on teams that aren't at a massive talent disadvantage.
Facts

All job interviews are frosting on a cake. U never going to interview someone that thinks they suck lol...secretly they know. Good bosses know who's who and if MD is one of those bums (which he is) imagine his hiring process lol

I think he actually made a good hire at Temple with Fran Brown yet somehow we get a lesser guy in Baker at Miami.

38 touchdowns is now the FBS record for a true freshman set by Sam Howell.....giving him the number one spot, stats wise, best true frosh QB ever.

That record probably won’t be touched for a long time in college football.

You're only saying he had the best statistical season for a freshman qb ever right? You don't actually think he's the best freshman qb ever?

Correct.

I think he’s good. It’s impressive and he will probably be drafted.

I don’t believe personally he’s the best true freshman QB ever. I think for True Freshman, it’s the kid in 1985 from OU or Trevor Lawrence

Mecklenburg has alot of talent. Greensboro with Dudley as well.

The raleigh/ durham area would surprise you to ven though basketball is life. I think Southern was good.

Im forgetting the name of the pizza spot near nc state that use to be the sh*t. @plantcity3 @Gibyaj.

Tank was a big *** dude too, i remember hitting Nc State parties and it would be Mario, Tank and a sh*t load of Lineman...then me and the fla boys linked together with them..fun times.

I told y'all Mack was going to be a problem.

"Mack is the same as Richt," they said. "Mack is washed up," they said. "Mack benefited from Texas money they said.

I told y'all Mack took a 4-5 year break from the burnout that was Texas and Richt did not take a break. People kept comparing Richt to Mack but Mack at one point was dominating the Big12. Richt never dominated or won a championship.

I know it early but Mack might not make a contender but he'll make a difficult team to beat given his coaching connections and recruiting ability.
Still a corch, he corched the Clemson gsme away
