UNC Matchup

If they play Renner expect D'Onofrio to play a lot of press man.

If Backup starts expect a lot of zone.

LOL

One of the worst run defenses in the nation, and dudes think this will be close.

****** opinion.

Truth is that if their run defense is THAT bad, Ste Mo will have a FIELD DAY with them passing.

Miami has always displayed the tendency to play down to the level of its competition. While it's still early, I haven't really seen that out of this team, even with a couple of cupcakes on the schedule. My opinion is that the coaching staff deserves credit as do the kids, who have displayed a good deal of maturity. While I do not expect it, I would not be shocked to see them "play down" to a team like Wake. I cannot see that happening against North Carolina, regardless of their stats.
I picture this game being competitive early but getting out of hand late in the second or at the beginning of the third.

If we don't win by 17, I will be surprised. This team is driven and they won't **** the bed next week. This team is playing better every week and this is what Golden expects from this team.

We need and will impose our will with our running game. We will control the clock and the defense will make the stops they need to. We roll by 3 TDs....

They have no run game and our run defense is vastly improved. Meaning they'll drop back to pass more often.....unleash AQM and the heat seeking missle McCord. Advantage Canes!! Our run game is killing it.....unleash El Duque and Dallas "All he does is score touchdowns" Crawford. That's game!!

UNC has a LB/TE suspended for the first half of the Miami game. Jack Tabb, who has caught 3 passes for 50 yards and started at TE in the opener against USC, but also has 5 tackles and has played at LB, was ejected from the VT game for throwing a punch. On the UNC board they think this a big loss despite his less than stellar numbers.

As was said before( I think by Franchise) that good teams go in and handle business against teams that they are better than. No ifs and or buts about it. It's one thing to get fired up for the big games, if UM is where we think they might be, they go in there and win handily.

That's what the vintage Canes teams did

UNC always plays us tough. On the road, prime time, and hostile crowd I think Heels keep it close early.

Canes 27

UNC 13

I believe that Al will have our boys like this!

This Miami team has a killer instinct that won't allow them to play down to their competition. Fuggedaboutit!

I do not think this is true anymore. This team is a process. Al is not in it to just run scores. He has plan and makes moves accordingly. We are only one season away from losing games like this. Now they win them. In two years there will only be one team in ACC that can compete with us, right now we are in the process of putting the other teams in their places. The complete beat downs will come the next two years. For now, just winning them all is what matters.

Agree with the above, we haven't played down to our competition since he has been here, we have just been bad. A lot of people wanted to blame coaching, but we didn't have the players (see UVA last year). We now have the players.

Having been present for a multitude of defeats in Chapel Hill starting back in '04 (which was a pretty talented team), this feels different to me. I was nervous about GaTech. I will be nervous about VaTech. Not nervous about this one.

Butch's players are almost all gone, so they are looking at relevance in the rear view mirror. We need to crush their spirit early and impose our will in the second half.

We screwed up enough in the GT game for the coaches to have a field day with this week's practice. We also know we got a lot of work to do before the FSU game. This is also a great opportunity for this team to get noticed on a relative national stage. I like our chances against a pretty pedestrian team with very few playmakers.

While I think we should win easily, everyone was saying the exact same things before the GT game; we'll win by 25, we'll win by 30, no way we don't win by 35, no way GT keeps it close...and we were up by 1 in the 4th quarter before pulling away.

I want to believe that we'll win easily, and again, on paper we should, but I just don't see how everyone can just flat out say we will after last week proved them wrong. Again, we should win easily, but this is our first real road test in primetime against a wounded animal. Weird **** happens on Thursday night games.

Even if we win easily, I don't think it'll be by 30. They still have talent. This isn't like the Temple team Golden inherited. I see us winning by 2 TDs, not 4.

We can't have the same mistakes we had this past week on the road. If we do, it'll be a close one. We need to keep pressure on their QB regardless on who is starting. Hopefully McCord knocks both of those b*tches out of the game. If we play well, don't turn the ball over, we win by 20+. I think it's going to be closer than everyone thinks though. If we dominate, then Al truly is the coach we need, I'm just so used to a letdown game here and there.
