Gates on the hill.
Great to see Maury back, and a nice bounce back from Gates.
Defense is getting to be a concern. Zamora’s lack of progression defensively from last year has been a disappointment.
Not really. Paige is probably the natural replacement from a defensive standpoint, Escala from an overall standpoint. Ultimately, Zamora’s bat is too valuable to sit no matter how frustrating he may be defensively.Agree. Isn’t there anyone on the bench that can push for playing time....or is Zamora all we have.
Jagr cheering on his Gators in Gainesville vs Winthrop. Leading 3-2 top 4

God our defense is awful.
You would think Gino would hold to the Fraser Philosophy:
1. put the fastest offense on the field that you can find, one that can hit and run, steal bases, and manufacture runs
2. put the fastest defense on the field that you can find, one that can cover ground and play error free
3. Have pitchers that throw good breaking balls, and don't walk anyone.
Seems to have worked well for UM for 40 years.
What do you mean "we"? This is not a Gator board. The defensive woes go hand in hand with our lazy recruiting philosophy. We go after travel ball heroes who can hit. Period. We stopped trying to identify real baseball players.
