I mean, we have 4 guys and are ranked 11th? Now that is not a homerun but as we saw last year Mario was hit (messidor, D. Jackson, Agude, Parrish) or miss/tbd (Porter, Denis, Logan, Ladson, Lichtenstein, Johnson, Moultrie)

The other 10 teams in front of us in terms of ranking: Oklahoma State (7 commits), Washington (7), Oregon (5), Arizona State (18), USC (6), UCLA (6), LSU (7), Colorado (13), Mich (7), and FSU (7).

So aside from the super aggressive Colorado and Arizona State, we are in the ball park and I would not call 1-2 more commits being "way more" aggressive.

Yeah, we have been aggressive. Limited amount of kids and plenty of suitors. We have so far gotten three major needs addressed plus Gore who is a decent player albeit doesn’t solve our DT issues as he is undersized. You aren’t going to get them all.

We literally just watched fsu get the number 1 ranked dt in the portal (a position that is a massive need for us) without so much as a single Miami website stating we were recruiting him.

The issue is two fold. (1) we are waiting for a second or third transfer wave like last year that may never come. At that point your options to upgrade the roster are extremely limited. (2) there is no cap on how many guys you can bring in this year. If there is ever a year to overhaul a roster in desperate need of a culture change with the portal, this is the year.
 
I was talking to Jordan Pouncey the other night and I asked him about the o-line man and all he could do was shake his head. He said he doesn't know what the **** is going on. Just a fun little tidbit.

I agree with no IC's might as well load up but we still have the 85 cap regardless. I also agree Mario seems to have been slow to the portal and he may not be well versed in it because he has always recruited at a high caliber the portal should be used like Bama and UGA use it, just pluck a really good player to elevate one or two positions of need, not a full roster overhaul.

But looking at one team getting one player and using that along with no websites reporting we reached out as the barometer is also flawed. Maybe the kid was predetermined to go to FSU, and just because the media does not post it does not mean we did not reach out. Maybe there was no traction or maybe it was close. We have seen mario surprise the media more than once in just over a year. Also, we got the #1 OL in the portal, so does that not cancel out the #1 DL someone else got? See the issue with that?

I understand where you’re coming from but you don’t rush in order to overhaul a roster. If you want to change the culture then you need to be selective. I’m good with no Randy Shannon overhauls just for the sake of having high numbers on recruiting sites.

The board needs to let Mario do his thing.

The point about the other sites was just in response to the argument that “look at other sites. They show we are interested in portal guys!”

Of course I credit him for landing the number 1 OL in the portal, but my point is things are so bad, that’s far from enough, and there’s no excuse to not be pursuing all sec type ol from uf unless there are serious off field issues.

“The board needs to let Mario do his thing.” Mario has completely eradicated his good will and confidence from this board. He didn’t show even the most basic of competence as a head coach in his first season and has earned his should being constantly looked over

Further, he even said he wished he hit the portal harder! And now it doesn’t look like he’s doing that!

I don’t recall seeing anything bad about Ethan White. From what I’ve seen he came in and worked himself into shape and improved to the point of 2nd team All-SEC. I’ve never seen their board say anything bad about his character. I think he’s buddies with Michael Tarquin who’s also in the portal, I believe as a grad transfer.

Ethan has never been enabled he doesn’t know what free lunch meant till college.
I doubt he goes to another SEC team he’ll have to sit out a year.
Canes perfect fit , close to home and great fishing LOLOL.
NFL keeps popping up in my mind though, he’s that good . I’m not sure if he eligible to declare for draft.
One thing I do know he’d be an instant starter he’s very smart and will surely call OL plays , I can picture it already.
When you look at Ethan he is the thickest person you’ll ever see amazing a pure MAULER bulldozer Road grader.

I was thinking if any insiders know anything probably not when Ethan’s mom says SHHUSH quite Ethan jumps an listens in respect for his mother who is NOT his friend she’s his mother .

This is the problem right here. There’s just not a lot of actual impact guys in the portal in any given year. Especially in the trenches.

247 has 74 players in the portal ranked as a 4* college player. Of those, only 15 have a 93+ ranking.

There’s just not a lot worth taking.
