UF commit Shawn Davis reaches out to Miami

My guess on scenario : Kid wants UF to drop bags. Tells UF he is starting to consider Miami and makes a phone call to Miami to scare Turds (so what Pete reported is 100% accurate). Miami figures out he is trying to play them so they put him on blast. If there had been real interest would have been kept under wraps. Now kid looks like a cheesedick. Saavy move by Miami.

pete pretty much confimred my harley story. today he said they were "always" "expecting" this visit. kind of a change of tune compared to waht has been said since he suposedly "shut down"

I don't think that Petes sources would have given the OK to go public with this info if everything seemed legit. We always have some recruits that talk with the staff to gauge interest...
If this was a legit attempt to come on board... we wouldn't even know about it yet

I agree. It's totally illogical. If that was the case, why would Davis come out and deny it so fast? Wouldn't he just let it the madness go on?

I wasn't necessarily making a factual statement, I just want someone who is wise to this to enlighten me.

What is illogical about it? It's the thing that makes the most sense.

If he was really about the U, he would've kept his mouth shut. He basically just got called out and his jig was up.

I'm not an insider and will never claim to be. I don't personally know any HS players, coaches, mama's, papa's, brothers, dogs, parrots, goldfish, etc.. that are related to recruiting and the U.

All I can say is that my gut feeling is that he was trying to play us hard.

And my Buddha gut is seldomly wrong.

Certainly seems now by the way David reacted that they smelled a rat and put this out to put David on blast.

If he wasn't scamming UM he wouldn't have reacted so violently when the story broke. He would have simply remained silent because he had a spot here if he wanted it. Why go so hardcore "Pete is a liar. I'm a gator" if he was serious about coming here?

UM put the info out there for a reason. This wasn't Pete leaking info. This was Pete being used as a vessel to tell the truth. UM wanted this info out there for a reason.
 
And how is this a smart move by Miami? Because it puts fake *** recruits on notice that if you try to play us, we'll call you out and make you look like a donkey on social media. Have a feeling Golden and Co. would have been taken in hook, line, and sinker. This is good stuff, might be a little too "inside baseball" for some porsters, but for me this shows that our staff isn't playing the recruiting game at JV level anymore.

So would anyone, but his ability was downplayed when he opted for the Gates. He's better than anyone we currently have committed in the secondary and just the truth. Some won't like hearing that, but now it appears we have a chance. He's a ball hawk back there and can deliver the pain as well.

My favorite player ever was Ed Reed and he reminds me a bit of him.

I disagree, most have not downplayed his ability whatsoever, actually many of us were ****ed that we missed on this kid...

I myself have stated numerous times on threads that he was the biggest miss we had in this class because he's the true FS we need in the secondary.

Each situation is different, sometimes Canes fans will trash a kid for not picking us, but in this case you won't find that very much with Davis, check the old threads most people on here really wanted him in this class & still do regardless of his Gaytor commit.

This isn't the same as it is with Harley, because Davis is actually worth all the drama.

his ability has been downplayed on every website and thats hard to do when your a florida gator commit. hes a low 3 star on 247 not even ranked top 500 player and rivals has him as 5.6 rating so whos downplaying what?


not that i care about rankings but lets not act like this guy is a star by everybody evaluations
