Wide receiver Tyler Simmons (Powder Springs, Ga./McEachern), an Alabama commit, is still being recruited heavily by Georgia and Miami. Going into the weekend, Simmons was torn between the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs.
This weekend, Miami had their shot to work their way into the picture for the three-star wide receiver and make this a three-team race.
“It was nice,” Simmons said. “It was just the same stuff you usually do on visits. Talk to the coaches, try on uniform, eat every two hours.”
With his familiarity with Mark Richt and Thomas Brown, who were heavily involved in recruiting him to Georgia before moving down to Miami, the Hurricanes are now a legitimate threat to sign Simmons.
“It made me consider them more,” Simmons said. “It’s closer than I thought it would be. I’ll have them on the table on Wednesday. I’ll have all three hats. I have an idea which way I’m leaning.”
Simmons plans to announce his decision Wednesday morning around 9:00 between Alabama, Georgia and Miami.
“I just need to sit down and talk to my parents about the situation. One coach told me that as a kid, your parents make all the decisions for you. So you can’t all of a sudden ask a kid to make a lifetime decision without their help. I’m going to take into consideration how they feel and balance that with what I think.”
