Tyler Huntley, QB, Hallandale (2016)

The best QB's from the 2016 class:

- Jalen Hurts
- Justin Herbert
- Jordan Love
- Shane Buechele

The mistake yall keep making is assuming that because a player is in the NFL that somehow means they're a good player.

There's a significant difference between being a warm body that simply fills out a roster spot vs an actual contributor to a team that has an impact.

Tyler Huntley only plays when teams have a rash of injuries, or late in the season when teams are sitting their starters.

And when he does play, as evidenced by his numbers, He. Does. Not. Play. Well.

So what is even the point of holding him up as some kind of shining example?

Yall want us to load up our roster with a bunch of UDFA & late Day 3 picks, for the sake of what exactly?

The goal is to be a team that competes for a National Championship, not the Soul Bowl.
Who was more productive in college, Tyler Huntley or Jack Allison?

Tyler had a better career than every QB we offered in this class except Dwayne Haskins. You can argue that he was a better pro QB than Haskins, even before he died, not because Tyler is good but because Haskins was really **** awful.

Unrelated but man we used to be offering some straight up garbage under Golden

Throughout the years we missed on a lot of QBs,geno smith, denard Robison, teddy bridgewater,Quinton flowers,Lamar Jackson,Tyler Huntley,Cato who balled at Marshall those are just some of the names from the tri county that balled in college the past 14 years

Tyler Huntley is definitely better than Shane Buechele. As a senior, Huntley was 7th nationally in passer rating. Buechele never cracked the Top 15 despite playing at the G5 level. Huntley also won 11 games that year. To top it off, Huntley is a much better runner. The only place Buechele has an edge is volume stats because he threw it so much more.

At the next level, Huntley has started 14 NFL games. Buechele hasn't played a snap. If Huntley was from Texas, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

As for the other point, only 1.6% of players make the league. Even if you limit the sample to blue-chip 4* players, it's still only 22%.

Anybody who makes the pros is a good talent who can help you win a championship. The best teams have those guys plus the Day 1-2 picks on top.

If Tyler Huntley was as good as yall are trying to convince yourselves, then why does he struggle so badly?

And I like how yall completely leaped over Hurts, Herbert & Jordan Love in order to make your arguments lol

Hurts, Herbert and Love are way better players. Not sure what they have to do with anything.

This thread is about a then-HS sophomore in our backyard who ended up starting way NFL more games than any QB we’ve had since Craig Erickson.

Obviously Huntley.

But I'm not arguing in favor of Jack Allison & never said he was a good QB.

They both suck.

One just got the chance to show how bad he is for longer than the other.

If Huntley was any good, his college productivity wouldn't have disappeared as soon as he went to the league.

Good QB's don't only play well in College.

The league is littered with QB's who played well on both levels, because they were actually good at the position.

This is not grounded in reality. Plenty of good to great college qbs are not great in the pros.

Being consistently great in college/pros is hard: Jayden Daniels and Joe Burrow did not become stars until their second year with LSU & fifth year in general. Baker Mayfield, Deshaun Watson, and Sam Darnold are talked about a lot differently than they were three years ago.

All to different degrees: Stetson Bennett, Marcus Mariotta, Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Vince Young, Kellen Moore, Mac Jones, JaMarcus Russell, Pat White, Troy Smith, Christian Ponder, EJ Manuel, Case Keenum, Matt Barkley, Aaron Murray, Josh Freeman, Brady Quinn, AJ McCarron, Brandon Weeden, Tim Tebow, Matt Leinart, Johnny Manziel, Jameis Winston, JT Barrett, Cardale Jones, Ken Dorsey, etc. professionally performed at a lower level than college — or barely even touched the field.
