well if he has 1/1024 of Indian in him like pocahontas eliabeth warren claimed, he can claim it and get moved to the top. I mean FSU is suffering from hiring someone on the basis of their skin color and not the content of the coaching ability.

If you think they hired Taggart because he is black I got a bridge to sell you.

It's an interesting overall dynamic when you consider Spo is half Filipino too.

All that said- Flores actually speaks very little Spanish, Manny's mom is actually a gringa from Ohio and Spo's dad is like the whitest guy ever.

The Panthers should hire a black head coach to really mix things up.

I listened to a little of Flores’ presser yesterday. Doesn't sound like he speaks much English either. Maybe he was nervous.

Breaking News: There are millions of Black Hispanics. Brian Flores is one of them.

I didn’t know he was black. In the world of the left, which is higher on the identity politics totem pole(my dad always told us we were part American Indian so I can use the word, right?).

He was HC at Oregon so that is plenty of cred, but FSU announced that they were making a minority hire as soon as jimbo tool TAM job. I thought it undermined Taggart and was stupid to do, but it certainly justifies claims he was hired because he was black. Heck, i think it was the university president that said it, but maybe just the AD. Either way, thier words kind of made it clear.

I believe I got it right. Manny Cuban descent, Brian Honduran. Both Latin. Hispanic if he speaks the language.

Hum. My wife is a child refugee from the airlift days. Been married to her for 37 years and never heard her or any of her family once say they were Latino. Actually they all made it clear they were Cuban not Latino. I actually pray in Latin, does that make me one? I’m half Italian too. That is a Latin language like Spanish. Can I claim Hispanic and Latino?

This stuff is so sensitive. I know that I’ve always been offended by the term WASP. Most original Southerners, like my dad’s family are actually Celtic desent and bitter enemies of the Germanic Anglo/Saxon English that most northerners were. Plus I'm Catholic. It is all very confusing. Thank God I’m a Cane where everything is one big happy family.

Culturally Cuba is part of Latin America. I too am married to a Cubana.

"Latin" is not correct. Latino is what you're looking for. Hispanic is more often used in certain geographical areas in the US and same for Latino - the definition for many has become blurred.

I know what report you are talking about. It was Schelbach, but he just said he heard that the AD said that. All that stemmed from the fact that Strong and Taggart were the primary candidates. There has never been any confirmation that they were targeting a minority hire. Do you really think the FSU boosters would allow a coaching search like that to go on?

I'm a political scientist but I'm not in to playing politics, so I can't tell you which is higher. I'm really only focused on my community so I could GAF bout politics on a national scale. But I'll say Hispanic is higher based on the history of this corporation (country).....

Strong families and strong communities are bedrock of a strong nation, not the heavy burden created by national politics so I am in complete agreement with your focus. good luck with your efforts.

Three if you count DiMare being in the HC seat for the baseball team. I know this is football and he's been there forever, but still. Pretty solid.

Now all we need is Frank Martin to come back home to coach the Basketball Team or the Heat and Willy Chirino/Bad Bunny to perform at the SB halftime show next year and we'll have ourselves one **** of a party boys and girls.

Nope....the French came up with it. The US census also uses "Latino" as a box you check if you are of Latin descent.

So, does that make Italians latino?

Latin is the language of the Roman Empire, which was headquartered in Rome, Italy.
