TVD Staying at UM Mega-Thread (F off Nick and the local Miami media dreck)

Take a look at the offense he ran prior to coming to Miami & again all I was discussing is king his first year at Miami.
2019 SMU threw for almost twice as many yards than rushing. We obviously have different opinions on what kind of offense Lashlee runs.

2019 SMU ran the ball and average of 41 times per game. They threw the ball 38 times per game. Pass completions usually go for more yards than rushing attempts.

Every year is obviously important, but is this the most important year for Miami football in recent memory?

I remember going into 2017 and how important that was. Maybe 2020, but Covid put a damper on it.

We aren’t competing for a natty this year but I would call this a bridge year. Having TVD back it increases the ceiling which will help with recruiting so come 2024 and 2025 we can start truly competing.

If this year is a repeat of last year…I don’t know where the **** we go to then.

Really? That's your response?

In 2019, SMU gained 4.4 yards per rush and 8.0 yards per pass attempt. So, yeah, that means that SMU pretty much ran the ball 50% of the time.

Or, to be more precise, SMU ran the ball 529 times and passed the ball 502 times.

But, sure, you're going to use a stat that exposes the hidden secret that each pass attempt tends to pick up more yards than each run attempt.

Bravo! Another stats genius is born!

you mean the same Rosier that admitted he was just “out there to be out there” when we had an undefeated season ranked #2 against Pitt?

That’s your guy you’re rolling with?
Rosier was a terrible pocket passer, but he doesn’t get enough credit for what he did in 2017, mostly with his legs. His pocket presence and vision was what made him such an effective runner. Some QB’s with speed hesitate before taking off and one wrong flinch will get you sacked. Malik was great at tucking it and finding the crease.

There are 8 Worlds in Super Mario Bros. Long way to go friend….

i say 9-6 because he didn’t play the whole Duke game he left the game early but was off to a good start. But one thing you are over looking is he has started and played in 10 full acc games. He is 6-4 in those games.

All 4 losses came by 3 points or less. Missed 33 yard fg vs uva 2021 and gave up the 4th and 14 vs fsu up 28-23 with 50 seconds left in the 4th. So those 2 should’ve have been wins. He has flaws and he has had bad moments but at least in conference play he has given us a chance to win every one he has played in

So now the qualifier is he’s given us a chance to win every ACC game we’re in?

Whenever u have to jump through hoops & use terms like should’ve & could’ve, u’ve already failed. The fact is, TVD played a major role in those losses.

Fine; I have school teachers in my family, so let’s start grading on the curve. Let’s focus on the 6-4 ACC record & this notion that we were in every game, b/c it’s not like football is a team sport or anything. So let’s focus on TVD “almost” willing us to victory.

4 ACC losses, dismissing a G5 loss and a loss to a woeful A&M squad. ****, just for the sake of argument, I’ll dismiss the Duke game, too:

TVD: 1,279 yrds (320/g) 9 TDs 6 ints on 56% passing
I’m not including sacks. So again, for every TD TVD has thrown in those 4 losses, he **** near turned the ball over.

-Let’s ignore that against FSU 2021, TVD had back to back ints to start the game, or that he fumbled deep in our territory, or that he couldn’t connect on 3rd & 3 throughout the first half giving FSU a 20-7 HT lead. ****, let’s ignore the defense causing back to back fumbles in the 2nd half deep in FSU’s territory that shifted the momentum. No, we almost won b/c TVD gave us a chance.

-Let’s ignore that against UNC 2021 that TVD threw 2 ints deep in our territory leading to 10 gimme points for UNC. Let’s ignore that the defense stiffened up to give us a chance to win & TVD throws an int to end the game. None of that matters b/c TVD gave us a chance.

-Let’s ignore that TVD was 51% on passing, or that Cam had 111 yrds on 8 ypc & 2 TDs. Let’s forget that the defense kept holding UVA steady despite continually giving UVA the ball. We had a chance to win b/c of TVD.

-And in 2022, TVD played an outstanding game. ****, it was his best statistical game his entire career, thus far…so I’ll conveniently excuse him throwing an int on 3rd & 4 to end the game on UNC’s side of the field. U know y I’ll excuse it? B/c TVD gave us a chance to win.

****, I guess I need to go back & give Kaaya a pass for having a +2 win/loss record against the ACC, & for giving us a chance to win against FSU every yr for 3 yrs. Maybe I’ve been too hard on QBs here; certainly I shouldn’t blame Kaaya for having Golden as his HC & Laser Beam Coley as his OC. Maybe I shouldn’t blame Kaaya for having Richt’s antiquated play book at his disposal or Baby Richt as his QBC.

Thanks, imma have to start revisiting past seasons & give the benefit of the doubt to all our QBs who have a win record against the ACC, see who their coaches were, & see how many games we had a chance to win b/c of them.

I'm gonna simplify it.

Supply. Demand.

The supply of starting QBs at Miami is low. The demand is high.

TVD had all the leverage.

End thread.

You’d think with an experienced QB, a 8mil/year coach who can buy his entire roster via recruiting and the portal, and a crappy schedule, we’d be able to win 9 games in 2023. However l’m skeptical. Mario preaches discipline but can’t manage a clock. I was never sold on him but thought he’d be an upgrade from Manny. He hasn’t proven to be better than Manny yet.

Of course you had to poRst this new thread and then cut out for your mid day nap as usual.

All of these TVD threads are going in one Mega thread.
