Tucker a late addition to Miami's class

Linebackers don't run the 110 hurdles. I hope he does well and I don't think Mike Rumph is going to give us a filler. My main concern is why after not ending signing day very well we are still signing. I can't remember a time where we have taken this many after signing day. We clearly missed out on some guys we expected last year and a lot of the board used the excuse of "self imposing". Look at our recent hires as coaches and it goes to show that Golden thought the same and knew NSD wasn't going to be a little difficult. His hurdle time is good enough to qualify for nationals in the B group this year so his speed is pretty legit. I am not sure why everyone is so upset to admit the past year we didn't do as well as we needed to in recruiting and now we are having to take some chances on some guys that are not well known.

The kid is coming here to run track and maybe count as a football scholly in a couple of years. Why are you concerned about a free trial on a good athlete?

Because if there is ever a small chance he would ever play a down we have to have a scollie open for him. He could probably get some time on ST, his speed is legit.

Oh my God, the horror - none of that means anything this year, and I'm sure after a year they'll have a good idea if he can actually play or if he should stick to track

We could use our 2014 early enrolles toward our 2013 class which would mean we could sign in excess of 25 kids for 2014. I'd rather do that than pick up some projects for last class. We all know 2014 is stocked and we should take advantage by signing more than 25.

That is IF we can oversign, we may take less and that the issue is moot.

Also who is to say all those 2014 kids qualify.

We just added a guy Clemson did not want. Why not bring in a bigger class next year and count some on 2013.

Because he adds depth. If it is a complete failure and he's a waste of a scholarship, he could transfer. A year ago, people had high hopes for Briscoe, now look where he's at.

Correct, a guy in 2013 can help in 2013. A guy in 2014 cannot.

Is it crazy that I thought Eddie Johnson when I first saw his clips? Similar aggression and explosiveness.

Why not safety? He's got the size and obviously is fast enough. Be a project being he hasn't played there before. But he can redshirt and contribute on ST while he's learning the position.

Could coach Golden be planning to develop Tucker into our future FB? Some articles have him listed as six-foot, 200-pounds. Thirty pounds can be added in the coming years to make him a FB, plus he is already a physical runner. I know rivals have him as a LB but who known it that is true considering it's rivals.

Dillard could feel the FB spot easily as well but I don't think he's physical enough for being a big back.

Rumph adds that "He's a Miami caliber player. He's tough, very fast, has a big heart and is one of the most physical players I've ever coached. If that's not UM I don't know what is - fast and physical.

"Out of all my boys I felt he was the sleeper of all of them."

As a linebacker Rumph says Tucker "made constant plays for me, creamed running backs and was a great pass rusher coming off the edge."

Rumph says that "With the University of Miami and coach (Micheal) Barrow, he's going to be an even better player. He's going to help win the ACC championship in football or track, if not both."

I think this kids film. The little bit there is. He is aggressive, putting his shoulder down to run people over. Also has a nose for the ball on D. I think he can develop well as a LB.

We can over sign if we didn't use all of our slots for the 2013 class. Look what we did with our 2012 class. We signed 33 recruits and counted 8 of them towards our 2011 class because they were early enrollees. We should do the same for our 2014 class. I think there are better quality recruits we can sign for 2014 that are better than this one. I understand we need depth at RB, I would hate to lose out on another kid becaus ewe took this guy. I'm willing to bet there is a little bit of Miami taking care of this school and its head coach.

Reminds me a bit of the Gabe Terry pick up last year, just less developed. Aggressive, track speed, explodes out of the starting block.

Tucker isn't being asked to do much in those clips, but you can't teach acceleration and it's hard to teach aggression. This staff has a promising track record with Terry, Alex Figueroa and Eddie Johnson. Hopefully this guy stays off the goon squad.

He's coming in as a track guy that plays football though, right?

Hey pete how about an article with Courtel Jenkins

Pete is gonna be busy with the UM camp. It would probably be more convenient for you to do the interview since Courtel is living in your basement. Good find
